It's a 12 hour drive one way for me.  I have a 28' enclosed trailer so it's no big deal for me.

Here's the thing, there is a white T local to me that belongs to a friend of mine:

86 T-Type-ARP studs w/ billet caps, Comp 212/212, RJC Power Plate, TE45A with PTE turbo saver, 60lb inj, 340 w/hotwire, 70mm tb, Pat's 3200, SE Turbo 3" dp, Razor's Alky, TT chip, LS1 maf, BGC SLIC, Scanmaster, dynomax exhaust, boxed arms, moog springs, UMI lowers, and Hotchkis bar

Originally a TX car it is clear of rot except for one spot...right rear fender along the body crease at waist level it was scratched/gouged down to the metal while being worked on at a shop.  The shop put it outside in the elements for a few weeks and it started showing corrosion.  Blue interior.  It was caged at one time, but it was removed.  Apparently it was a staged race car but the stage motor was taken out and they scraped together a motor and threw it in.  Someone painted the chrome bumpers white and the idiot at the shop scraped one pretty good so now the chrome is showing on the left rear.  He took it to SE Turbo in Georgia (he didn't know any better at the time) and I had to go with him to rescue it.

I've repaired some of the electrical gremlins, got the speedo (it has a GNX style dash but I can't remember what kind of gauges) working, the tail lights (connector by steering column), got the fans going again (bad wiring), and some other things.

Then he blew both head gaskets...

Those were just both replaced by Bill Ragland so I know they were done right.  I kinda like this car, but I know what it needs...it needs a completely redone engine harness as we're constantly finding frayed/exposed wires on it.  And it's going to need a paint job, new carpet (unless you don't mind the holes from the cage), and a new rear deck (again..cage holes).   And the right front panel, just in front of the wheel well was kicked in while at the shop too.

The last price he gave me was $6K firm.

Just an update...he opted to sell, price dropped to $4500.  I pulled the trigger, will pick it up in December.

Congrats, looks nice.
Interior looks very "unfaded" :)

Reminder, there are no $5k cars, there are only $12K+ cars, the only thing that changes how that total is distributed over the first year. :(

Hard to fathom why they spend the effort of filling the bumpers yet left the rub strips on?
Might as well just put a cage back in?

I'll take the damaged ones and have them stripped and sprayed white for the white car.

Pretty much...it's gonna be my budget/project/hands on learning tool since I'm reluctant/hesitant to do any serious wrenching on the GN for fear that I'll fuck it up.

Looks like I'm gonna have to delay making this purchase now...some stuff on my motor just didn't look right so we're putting in a freshened up short block.

I pulled the trigger on it today...mine.

I'm going to pick it up next weekend in FL near Tampa if anyone is out that way.

Once I get it, I'll take lots of pictures and we can play name that mod and go through it and pick out things that might need immediate attention.
