PM me when you will be in town - I live a bit north of Tampa.

Will do, should be the 7th or 8th.

I've got the GN to love and this thing to throw things at when they make me mad...but it should be fun, especially when I tell the wife I bought it today.

If I were you I'd be glad I passed on the grey racecar. Piecing back together somebody else's hack job is never fun.

Nice looking one you got. Looks to have been repainted.

I'm not sure if the whole car has been repainted or not, I don't think it has.  I know the hood was repainted recently because the guy that replaced the head gaskets accidently gouged it. The front bumper obviously, and the back bumper which used to be chrome was painted white by someone.

The car has gremlins that need to be worked out.  It was a race car in TX in a previous life.  IIRC, they took out the cage, the motor and transmission and threw in something they had lying around in the shop.  My friend bought it hoping it would be a solid, turn key, street sweeper but soon found out that it just keeps having little issues (mostly electrical) that keep popping up...

Just looking at pic in post 73, it looks like the T-Type emblem and the intercooled emblem have moved from factory position. And the rub strip on the door/front fender/front of the rear quarter looks a bit high for a factory one.  Not a big deal , great looking car!

All the cars that I have seen have frayed wiring harnesses, these days....I don't think that is a big deal...not as big a deal as replacing it might be :D I might repair to save the hassle, but, I am not anal about such things-particularly these days

The place that I have consistently found to be a problem, or a problem still in embryo, is the area at the back of the drivers side valve cover where a screw emerges from the firewall.   When the plastic wiring harness sheath breaks the mounting tabs off that slipped over the valve cover studs, and someone leaves the bolt out of the sheath mount under the coil pack bracket off while sticking an engine back in the car...the wiring harness bundle settles down and rides on this exposed screw.   Somewhere down the line, it saws thru the insulation and starts blowing fusible links and popping fuses.  Being this screw is not readily visible without knowing it is there, it can be a real mystery problem.  John's loom replacement is pretty cheap.

I would check the plates that they welded into the floor pan for corrosion around the welds, clean up, and paint over to prevent a future point of rust....if they did not.

It seems to me that this was a real good buy potentially.  I really like the all white cars.  I wonder if you can match the white with a powder coat for the bumpers?  My T has a painted over chrome front bumper that is peeling off.  I was thinking about powdercoating it rather than expoxy paint.

Well...it's home, after a long freaking drive.  I'm beat.  I'll take it out of the trailer sometime tomorrow and get some pics.  It needs to have the IAC/TPS reset/adjusted and a new accumulator ball (I hope that's all it needs for the brakes anyways), idled real rough.  Did that once before when I last saw the car and I did the IAC/TPS and it was fine...but then went outta whack again a few weeks later about the time he put it into storage.

kinda doubt it is the adjustment...m ight pull the iac out and clean the passages.  Otherwise, I would look for a vacuum leak, or such

Well...

I still don't have the black car back yet (crossing fingers for May).  The white car is a veritable tank, though she's sprung a leak and she's getting a new rear main seal.  Quite a few life changes so I've been and probably will be out of the net for awhile longer...
