Wish me luck, I'm working with six 10th and 11th graders tomorrow. I'm excited, can't wait to see their perspective and views. I've had homework for a couple of weeks now, let's see how I do.

Gary, I hope you're doing something auto tech related with the students. They started the auto shop classes back up at our local school and I couldn't be happier with the fella that's running it.

I just checked and I used to bike 2.1 miles to JA.

Got fired my second week for being 5 minutes late.
Super strict.

My short time there led to great things after i got through a dangerous jungle.

An amazing day. It was held at one of the local colleges and I got teamed up with one of the professors. We had six amazing young men that had their act together. The students needed to complete a questionnaire of jobs they were interested in. In our group we had kids for web design, diesel tech, two accountants, Army, and policeman. It seems we hear all the bad stuff of our youth and think they are all alike. These kids were beyond their years at 11th grade. We came away today with new hope for our future. I think I learned more than they did.

It's nice to hear about such.  Most of the stuff we see these days with regard to youth is friggin' depressing.

I think we need more good news from the future generations.  We get so many negative perceptions from ones we see interviewed on tv or come across in daily life.

Your right too TT, although JA was short for me i still talk about it to this day. I was bright eyed and bushy tailed when i signed up, excited! Im still proud i was a part of it and encourage any kid to get involved.

JA was a step I wasnt ready for as i was a couple years younger and didnt drive but I learned real quick about the effects of being late or missing even. My failure at JA made me a great employee for the rest of my life. I'm very dependable. Except for last week ugh. Honestly, 25 years later I still appear to work with JA standards.

Oh, and JA isn't about inner city kids or disadvantaged kids (at least not when I was involved), it was for kids with good gpa's that would be future leaders in business. E.g. owners, managers...kin da a preppy thing where you dress in slacks and wear ties.

That's what it was here. I found out about JA because my dad was as advisor so I went just to check it out.   Ended up meeting a really cute goody goody chick.

A few yeas ago I bumped into her and she'd since discovered a certain 'joy' in life...

....So I took her out on the lake and banged her in my jet boat.

That is the MEllenials for you!  I think it comes down to the parents and the way they were raised.  There is some good young people out there and lots that think they deserve everything without working for it.
