there are a lot of variables.  Texas does not have a state income tax while a lot of other states do.

I would guess in Texas, paying federal income tax only, it would be about 30% back to the government for the average person.  I believe you pay 37% after the first 500,000.

You forgot the 13% VAT on everything you buy in CA. And in the case of Gas 13% on the tax on gas and some other stuff
