My blue-ray player doesn't work either on my new tv.
They told me i have to upgrade my player to match the input on the tv.
In other words no conversion from RCA cables to HDMI. So IDK.

Your new TV should be HDMI. Does your Blu ray player not have an HDMI output?

How old is this player? Not a DVD player?

Ron...can you post a pic of the connections on the back of your Blu Ray player. Mine is years old and it has HDMI.

I'm ONLY watching DVD's on this setup. To rip the HDCP from the signal I'm using a splitter. Should I put the splitter between the Bluray player and receiver...or between the receiver and TV. The receiver is causing the HDCP error.

Tried both in ports on the back of the TV...and they both say no signal. More reading on this receiver. All I had to do was pick HDMI 1 ,2,3 or 4 from my 5.1 and that was it. Nothing so simple on this one. I need a beer...

Splitter only stops the error if I place it between the receiver and TV...that's that question answered.

Okay...so the deal is HDMI won't work cuz the TV and Blu Ray player aren't compatible. Cuz HDMI won't work, then the on screen won't work. Hooking up the component vid brings up the onscreen menu. Rear speakers and front satellite speakers aren't working...but I'll get to that tomorrow.

Slowly winning. Just gotta figure out why the rear speakers aren't working. About a million reasons in the manual why. I'll have to go through each one till I hit it. Whoever designed this should be shot.

All speakers are working. Sounds good. I recommend 7.1 for the other 2 surround speakers. There's a bunch of other adjustments for fine tuning that I'm gonna work on over the next few days. Thanks for everyones input.

My budget 2.1 setup sounds decent, I’m sure a receiver would help as the Dayton b652 bookshelf’s are driven by a topping 25wx2 setup. The Polk 10” is powered and it slams pretty good. When I really want to jam the I go for the headphones.
