I think there is a high pressure system on both sides of it holding it stationery.  They are forecasting another foot or more of rain in the next two days.  At the moment, the water has stopped rising at my son's but he is still in danger...

Being retired I don't do much driving anymore...so the oil companies can take a long hard suck on my ass.

If you're watching the news, I grew up on Cedar Bayou there in Mont Belvieu/Baytown area. Lots of friends under water. My brother lives in Dayton but he's on the high side and hasn't been in trouble yet. Keep them in your prayers and please shoot looters on site

They say about 80% of the homes do Not have Flood insurance so that's really going to screw people up! Sad!

I just read an article that says only 15% of the people have it. It's so expensive in a flood plain most can't afford it. The coverage seems to be so limited too. Anything under 1st floor level isn't covered except necessary appliance, like a furnace. So i f you have a fixed up basement, not covered. During Katrina it stated that all federal assisstance maxed out at $30,000 per household.

I am not up to date on it, but it used to be mandatory if you lived inside the 100 year flood plane.  I know that I made sure I was not within those areas.  It was very expensive and covered very little.
