Ball Joint Help
«

So my question is.
How do I press in the upper control arm ball joints? Do I just hammer the sleeve in and then slide the ball joint in and tighten it? I assume that if I hit the sleeve in through the hole it will bend the metal?
Or am I going about this all wrong and the sleeve is on the bottom and you just slide the ball joint through the hole and button it up?
Sorry If I'm using the wrong terms.

Hey Justin,
I'm pretty sure the upper ball joints are simply bolted into the control arm….the lower ball joints are pressed in. At least that's how my stock front control arms were.

So out of these two images what is the correct way of bolting them in place?

I assumed the uppers were riveted in from the factory...and you simply knocked off the rivets and bolted the new ones in through the rivet holes. The lowers are a press fit.

Stockers are riveted in place. It's a bolt in deal. The last one I did on my Blazer (same arm) was a Moog and came with bolts that I didn't really like. I ended up getting some nuts 'n bolts I trusted better.

Thanks that's what I assumed as well. Just wanted to make sure. From the factory they are riveted , my AC Delco pack has provided the hard wear and they should hold up.

Ball joint on top and con arm on bottom. that way if the bolts come loose (God forbid) the knuckle won't flop and cause you to wreck.
