Replacement Muffler
« on: April 07 2011, 11:16:31 PM »
As the subject says, I'm looking for an aftermarket muffler to replace the factory muffler. I'm not ready to replace with an aftermarket exhaust system, everything is in great condition except the muffler.

Thanks in Advance

Terry

Ultraflow, magnaflow, one of the Pypes mufflers, maximum flow, or Aerochamber

I'm running no cat with a full throttle test pipe, Sounds good now or alittle louder I wouldn't mind. Part # for the Ultra Flow or Magnaflow?

I believe this is the right one, but you need to check the length of the current muffs as well as the pipe size.

this version is 14" body with 2.5" pipes

same with looking up the magnaflows...n eed to know the body length as well as the pipe sizes

all the ones I mentioned above are basically the same design.  The Aerochamber is quieter and made differently.

the Maximum Flows are from Hooker and are also straight thrus like the ultras etc, but is not stainless.  I have had a set of them on one of my cars for about ten years.  they are cheaper..or they were because they are not stainless

But those aren't stock location x mufflers?
Or has the criteria changed?

I am not too respectable if I cannot even read simple English

I wonder how close this one comes to fitting?

As far as tuning, there is really nothing magical about it.  I think Shane (blackgn) is in TN, but, I forget where.

If you have at least a scanmaster, a TT chip, fuel pressure gauge and a boost gauge, we can help you.  If you have powerlogger, it will be even easier.

Other than optimizing the fuel, there is not much to it once the car is running properly.  Most of the cars I see data from to tune have basic problems more than major tuning problems.

Steve, what's the closest match on the market today for the Pitbulls that ATR used?

I don't know....I never saw how one was made.

The straight thru style with no internal louvers are the best flowing available.  I suspect that if one flowed them all on the same bench that one would find the only significant variation came with pipe diameter.

The Walker Race Bullets are about as open as it gets....I might put them on my Challenger if I get that far.
