As I was installing the new alky kit on my son's T, I decided to ditch my old grainger style boost controller which was maxed out around 24 psi and install something that did not cause me to disconnect a hose to adjust it. I settled on one from Grimm Speed that allegedly allows you to go up to 60 psi.... http://www.grimmspeed.com/manual-boost-controller/I ran low on alky before I made my final tweaks but it seems to work as advertised.

The Autozone battery in one of my Buicks lost a cell the other day. Date on the side said 2009 so I got pretty good life out of it.
The current 75s Gold top replacement from AZ is $119 here but it had a bit less capacity as is typical of summer type batteries which is not a bad thing. But, I thought I would look around and see if I could find a Sears Platinum which is actually the Odyssey battery with a Sears label on it. Enersys makes them and they have a good rep. Looks like Sears stopped carrying them last year, so, I kept looking.
I looked at Sam's and saw they listed an AGM battery with the Duracell name on it. I did not know they even had a car battery, but, research showed it is made by East Penn which generally has a good reputation. It had a bit more capacity (probably because it is an 34/78 group size) than the AZ battery and AGM can be pretty good in a car that is not started very often. Sam's had the 34/78 for $129 which was cheaper than most sizes so I bought it.
the 34/78 is about an inch longer than the 75 group size so I took a cut off wheel and cut the spacer off the tray on the radiator side and the battery sat down in the tray perfectly.
So far, so good. I would have rather had an Energizer battery but it did not come with a rabbit.

I am always a bit puzzled when I find that people don't want to download a shop manual for our cars. It makes it so much easier to sort out the electrics, etc. Originally, Jeremy Wood and Jim Testa scanned the pertinent sections of the shop manual and sold cd's. Later, Jeremy stopped selling the cd's and posted the manual on line. Anyone that wants one can download it here thru Google docs https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_taSEdSERBnSzlWSkZtTWJhbjA/editWhen you click download, it will say the file is too large to virus scan but you can click and go ahead and download it anyway. All the data that was on the cd is there. Really makes the wiring diagrams easy to follow and it gives all the other info from the factory to explain how things work/go

Are you still building front covers or interested in building one for someone that wants one?

The flood of Trump-fearing American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week. The Republican presidential campaign is prompting an exodus among left-leaning Americans who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray, pay taxes, and live according to the Constitution. Canadian border residents say it's not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, global-warming activists, and "green" energy proponents crossing their fields at night.
"I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn," said southern Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. "He was cold, exhausted and hungry, and begged me for a latte and some free-range chicken. When I said I didn't have any, he left before I even got a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?"
In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences, but the liberals scaled them. He then installed loudspeakers that blared Rush Limbaugh across the fields, but they just stuck their fingers in their ears and kept coming.
Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals just south of the border, pack them into electric cars, and drive them across the border, where they are simply left to fend for themselves after the battery dies. "A lot of these people are not prepared for our rugged conditions," an Alberta border patrolman said. "I found one carload without a single bottle of Perrier water, or any gemelli with shrimp and arugula. All they had was a nice little Napa Valley cabernet and some kale chips. When liberals are caught, they're sent back across the border, often wailing that they fear persecution from Trump high-hairers.
Rumors are circulating about plans being made to build re-education camps where liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer, study the Constitution, and find jobs that actually contribute to the economy.
In recent days, liberals have turned to ingenious ways of crossing the border. Some have been disguised as senior citizens taking a bus trip to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen young vegans in blue-hair wig disguises, Canadian immigration authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior citizens about Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney to prove that they were alive in the '50s. "If they can't identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we become very suspicious about their age," an official said.
Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic-broccoli shortage, are buying up all the Barbara Streisand CD's, and are overloading the internet while downloading jazzercise apps to their cell phones. "I really feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can't support them," an Ottawa resident said. "After all, how many art-history majors does one country need?”

After a few days searching for a newer truck, I got frustrated and decided to buy a new toy first while keeping my eyes open for an older truck that was a reasonable price. I don't believe there is such a thing, but, I will keep looking. Trucks seem to drop very little in price until they are well past a 100k miles these days...
Anyway, I have had the yen for a Miata for some time and my son has had so much fun with his that I started looking for one. Damn, if the Miata market is not drying up all of a sudden as there are very few for sale at the moment. Maybe it's summertime and people are having fun. Suddenly one popped up in Abilene that was low mileage and another one in Dallas that was beautiful but lowered to the bump stops. I was thinking of having Rich look at it, but, he lucked out and the car sold the first day.
I also found a second generation car down in Houston that was in great shape and it was also very low mileage as well which is very unusual as most are north of 100k miles these days. Both the one in Abilene and the one in Houston were in the 40K range.
I went up today to Abilene to look at the '97 and it had been driven virtually nothing since the owner bought it. Seems like it is the 8th Miata he had owned but when he owned the first 7, he weighed 200 lbs. He went to Dallas and bought this one and drove it home and has not driven it since....probl em is he gained 100 lbs in the interval from owning number 7 until he bought this one. It was painful watching him trying to get in the car.
At any rate, I bought it. It has a few light hail marks on the hood and trunk Otherwise it was in very good conditon. I had checked the vin and verified the mileage and history and it concurred with what the current owner had told me. He was an interesting guy and also owned a GN back in the '90's. He knew his cars pretty well.
Everything worked and I gave him the money, transferred the title, etc. and started home. About 20 miles down the road, the check engine light came on! LOL...Did not change the way it was running and I came on home with it. Plugged in my scanner and it gave me a low efficiency cat code. I just ordered a new cat, two O2 sensors and a set of plug wires...10% of the cost of the car lol.
At any rate, after an hour and half driving, I was moving a bit slow when I crawled out but it was very easy and comfortable to drive. Steering is very tight along with the shifter and it goes exactly where the steering wheel points immediately. First corner I came to, I almost made a U turn...smh...i t was easy after that.

Galaxy Note 7. As you always like to point out my computer decisions, I thought I would let you have first crack at telling me why it was a bad choice. As long as you don't tell me I should have bought an Iphone, you can hack away other wise. Maybe with the ability to write notes to myself on the screen, I will start buying what I went to the grocery store for, or order all the car parts I need at one time instead of paying $9.95 three times a day for shipping. Personally, I would have liked a Nexus but I wanted the stylus after using my son's Note 4 a few times. I like straight android if given a choice.
