Alternator fix

Anybody recognize this alternator?  It's on my car and it's making a bad-bearing noise.  Can't order a bearing if I don't know what alternator I have. I can't find any part number or anything but a stenciled-in-white-paint number 001 on it.  Of course I haven't taken it off yet, so it might have a number hidden on it somewhere.

it's not a CS144 which came on the turbo buicks...at least in 86/87 ?

The ones I've seen on other TR/GNs, and the one on my old '87 TR, had the metal fan blades and a wider gap between the metal parts of the body.  This one has the plastic fan and a narrower gap.  I'm just wondering if it's a different brand name.  Attached is a picture of the one on my old TR

that fan was used on newer cars so I am guessing it is a later model....Looks like the CS144 to me but I don't know if it is the 120A model like our cars had or a 140A later model like the Impalas used.

The bearings are different depending upon early style and later style.

The alternator should have the amperage stamped on the case.

Nothing stamped on the outside of the case. I think it's a 1996 Impala SS alternator though.  I emailed the previous owner, not expecting a response, and he responded.  Told me it was...

Sure looks like one.  So you need bearings for the NEW or Second generation (same thing as New) CS144 alternator.  Parts numbers and dimensions are listed on the alternatorpart s site posted above.

I decided to just replace the alternator. The new alternator came in and it wasn't new.  It was a used one in bad condition and it wasn't even for my car, or for an Impala SS. So O'Reilly sent it back and got me a new one just a few hours later.  It was the 1996 Impala SS 140 amp and it fit right in as the previous owner had already done the few things to make it fit.  Easy install and up and running.  And the engine compartment is quieter that it has been since I got the car.  That old alternator must have been making a lot of small noises.
Problem fixed and back on the road.
