Annual Check In
« on: April 18 2018, 12:50:55 PM »
I had to find a pic of something I took awhile back and wound up back here...so thought I'd at least check in.  Been avoiding forums and just using FB mostly for Buick stuff.  The Buick Grand National Tech FB page is actually pretty good...some of the others, not so much.

Anyways, the Buick is still running...lol, it only took 3 different motor builders to finally get one that would not eat itself.

Just put on a new 6262 and Cold Case radiator.

I don't OCD over it as much as I used to, more worried about functionality and longevity than anything else now with it.

Next week should be exciting, meeting up with about 5 or 6 other TR owners in Panama City and Hartline is coming up for dyno/tuning of our XFI.  Knock on wood my car doesn't destroy itself on the dyno.

I got married.

Still live in Fairhope, AL.

And I actually have some people nearby that own GNs now for when I do break something and need help.

With this cold case radiator did you have to do the mod mentioned to get it into the car?

Looks lime it would be a good replacement for the stock with the trans and oil coolers.

I guess i should look into this facebook thing. I follow the Steve v automotive and the we4 owners group on there as well as some skylark and gs groups.

As for the cold case, you either have to mod the car as per the link or mod the radiator itself.  I went with the radiator.

Instead of cutting that piece off the car we actually cut a slit in the radiator for that to slide into.

It is a tight fit, a very tight fit...a "this fucker isn't going to fit" tight fit, lets yell and scream at it tight fit.  The key is to drink a couple of beers and come at it from another angle.  And getting the radiator hold down plate or whatever it's called back on top of it is fun...if you don't have a hernia you will by the time you are done.

But it works like a champ.  I have dual spals and the cold case, I'm not boxed in.  Still keeping it in the 160-170 range with a FMIC and AC on, but it was also only 80 degrees.  Need to see how it works when it's 100 degrees here in southern AL.

As for Hartline, we got the Buick GN owner and party discount.  I'm told pricing varies on...variables .

Good to hear from ya, Gordy. Been a long time since the McDonald's in Moriarty NM. Now where's my cane and O2 tank...?
Everything I need to know I learned from over-drinking.

Oh, and MAGA!
