Got it installed last night, and tested out fine. What degree of knock sets it off. I took a test spin and watching the SM got about 1.2 degrees while passing before it downshifted... .no alarm. Just wondered how much knock before it sounds??

I have an alarm on the way. I'm nervous about messing with the wires to the computer, my automotive electrical skills are limited. Any tips or tricks to this job? Also would the blue quick connector type connectors be okay to use?

I dont have knock now, well 1-2 at the 1st to 2nd shift but thats probably false. But stuff happens, loss of fuel pressure, or the solenoid going bad again, or any number of things, and if I'm driving it I watch the SM, probably to the point of obsession, and I know that she dosent. So $50 for an alarm is pretty cheap peace of mind for me when she is driving it. Plus as cash permits I want to add alky and start turning up the boost, and I dont want to have to make adjustments for her driving it and then me driving it so with an alarm she will always lift before pieces start flying.....hop efully!

Steve, are you married?  Just kidding. That does sound like the obvious answer, but in reality it would be much less painful and probably cheaper to just spend the $50 for the alarm and tell her to let off if she ever hears it.

I can only find the lighted one at Caspers, I dont think it has an audible alarm? I have the wastegate set at the lowest position ( no tension to slip over arm) and it pushes 15 LBS. I cant lower it. I dont expect issue's as there isnt a problem now, but again, stuff happens, and she wouldnt have a clue to lift.

I want to install a knock alarm in the car. The wife is starting to drive it more and she is getting a bit of a heavy foot from the light. I KNOW she dosent look at the SM and wouldnt know knock if she heard it. Who sells a good one. I would like to get one I've seen before that is like a gauge with green,yellow,red lights and an audible alarm. I've been searching but cant find what I want. Any help would be appreciated.

I am still on the default settings, I'll take some fuel out and see what happens. I had so much knock trouble before that I'm probably overcautious.

on a WOT run its between 800 and 810 (lowest recorded reading). I'll watch see what it reads just after I lift.

Finally going to upgrade exhaust system. Looking in the summit catalog and they have 2 Pypes systems for $370. One is called the violator system and one is the race pro. Is one better than the other? I'm assuming its a different sounding muffler thats the difference. Anyone have experience with either?

Was following the buick to a car show this weekend, noticed something and have a stupid question. When she would accelerate from a stop using maybe 10 lbs. of boost the car would puff a small amount of black smoke at each shift. Bad thing or normal?? Also when she lifts on the gas it puffs a bit of blue smoke, I knew it was burning a small amount of oil, maybe 3/4 quart in 3000 miles, so I figure that was that issue.

Just an update. The "e-bay lady" is going to give it a shot making the grip larger and rewrapping it. They have never had the request before?? GN drivers must have girly hands  Anyway, I'll get a pic today before I pull it off and then one of the finished product and post up later. they said about 10 day turnaround and quoted a price of $235, I thought that was pretty fair.

I'll back off the fuel and try it, when it was at the baseline setting of 128 I was getting a bit of knock so jumped it up to 140 and got no knock but was at 830 so I dropped it to 135 and still no knock and lowered to 800, played it safe and thought that was a good place to be?? Scared of the knock :confused;
On the shifts I was looking at the stock tack ( I know, not the best gauge :redfaced; ) I'll make a run watching the SM and see exactly where it shifts now that I know 5200 is my mark.
