General Buick Tech / The battle against engine heat
« on: August 31 2013, 09:56:11 AM »
Okay so after having my car in pieces now and working on a Fbody rad as well as 160 thermostat. I've begun to ponder the other ways to beat the heat, Yes once I get my 3inch downpipe I'm going to heat wrap the sucker or get it painted with heat paint. But I was thinking about functional GNX fender vents. How well do they really cool the engine? Do they release a lot of trapped air?
I just want to know from people that use them because obviously cutting a fender is a touchy subject.

Paint and Body / Body Trim and Bezels
« on: August 20 2013, 04:23:50 PM »
What would be the best way to restore bezels? Primer then black paint? Because it seems that just hitting it with black doesn't work as well as I thought it would. What about plasti dip?

I've thought about a meaningful tattoo for a while and nothing struck my but I could see loving this tattoo for as long as I live.  :powersix:

General Buick Tech / I was wrong but now we are getting somewhere!
« on: August 16 2013, 06:00:12 PM »
I don't know how or why but this stuff destroyed my car. The engine is toast needs a rebuild. Never going to use that shiza again. I went over everything I've done to my car the only reason it started that noise was the 20-50 oil change that so many have used. Maybe a fresh motor is to tight for that oil? either way it did something.

General Buick Tech / Freshen up a motor
« on: August 06 2013, 08:49:34 PM »
Ok so my question to you engine tech guys is what is my best options to make a reliable strong block with good internals. Basically this fall the motor is coming out and I want to go roller cam but I'm going to leave the hydraulic lifters. My goals for this motor are to make use of a TE44 turbo full potential lets say to a 600plus HP capability and beyond in terms of reliabilities I want a good motor. What are some things I will need I'm very new to engine builds.
Forged pistons?
Studded block?
New crank?
All new bearings all around.
Would there be a lot of benefit in going with roller lifters?
Any links to parts and parts numbers as well as little advice from your own finds would be welcome.
