I am restoring and painting all the trim parts, they will be painting all the body color parts. Yes the bumpers are a 2 man job and still hard to not scuff the fillers. Passenger side mirror is a paint in the ass with the cable up to the dash, pulled it out with a wire following it for reinstalling it. The front bumper moulding has some gouges and scars on it. Any ideas on a product to repair it with? I can get a new one for $150 but all these odds and ends add up fast, would like to try to see if it can be fixed up cheaper.

Well after a couple years of work it's time for the paint job! I'm very excited. Local shop working with me. I will try to post progress pics. The plan is to surprise my son on his 16th birthday in Feb with a finished car. He has worked with me a ton on this and can't wait to see his reaction. Told him I'm putting it in storage for winter like last year.

It turned out to be the computer wire that goes from the logger to the wiring bar, it was just slightly pulled out and that was it. Strange it came loose on its own.

Back again guys! SM just quit working other day. Been trouble shooting and heres what I got. Start car and it displays start up info, then shows --- --- then goes to sleep so its not recieving a signal from ECU. I read where after it goes to sleep you can ground signal wire and it should "recycle" start up display....it dosent.
I also read where som ECU's fail in the area where it send signal to ADL port, and also the low speed fan relay and TCC solonoid. I have some new relays coming, the old ones seemd to work as they should. Is there a way to test the signal wire to see if it is sending data, or do I need another SM to figure that out? as always, thanks for any help! 9
General Buick Tech / chip question« on: August 14 2023, 01:59:12 PM »
Helping a guy that just picked up a car. Has stock set up now. I have a TT chip for 37 LB injectors, 15 lb boost 92 octane. If we use that chip, I think he has 60 lb injectors, will it work or will it be way to rich when just driving around with no boost.

Want to put dual fans in car, read that these fit. Anyone try them? If so did you need to rig up additional wiring and relays? You can get a "Buick" set up for $269 but you can get Intrepid fans from Rock auto for $99.

IHADAV8 Playground / General rant« on: September 09 2022, 12:50:17 PM »
If your on this board you probably work on your stuff and can relate. Literally everything I have done with this car has been a real pain in the ass. And we have done ALOT. Latest thing, now that it is driving pretty well, we wanted the stereo installed. got some speakers and a factory concert sound unit. Power antena was shot so did a cable rebuild and discovered that the motor would only move it up but not back down, pulled it again to put in a new unit. Anyone that has replaced this knows how much fun it is to get to, so repeating that process was big grins. Get that working and discover the signal cable has a short in the connector, cut that out and spliced it back together. That problem solved, so now we find the factory wire to the drivers door speaker has a short so run new wire for that. Finally think were in business and now randomly, any radio frequency above about 100 and it will cut out and squeal, and then randomly come back. Its not the antena cable issue cause the lower channels work great. A simple job that in most cases would have been a few hour install has been a month long ordeal......an d its still not working correctly..... .rant over

General Buick Tech / cruise control« on: September 09 2022, 12:23:35 PM »
When I set the cruise it is "surgey" I have a direct line from vacume block to a y that goes to the ball and cruise unit. Should there be a check valve in that line? wouldnt think that would cause a surge as its in vacume, not boost. The speedo needle is not smooth, waves around a bit, maybe a 5mph swing cause the cable probably needs to be lubed but its a bitch to get to.
