I always admire that brings a stick to an auto fight! Car runs really well
Brad, you ought build one of these....be like a bike with 4 wheels :) You can shortcut the process because he has learned a lot as to what works and what does not.
He has been playing with this one for a few years now. He got sidetracked for awhile recovering from his accident but he seems to be going full bore now. I really like the car.

I don't know anything about it, but, several of my friends down in Houston use it and like it.
I have my R1 and my 85 IROC up for sale. I bookmarked HPTuners...
Any interest in how I hacked a chromebook into my tuning laptop?
LOL..I answered this in my answer to your PM...but Jeremy will explain better than me...
Chromebooks run ChromeOS - it's not android but a close.
The a particular chromebook I bought has a haswell celeron (x86) cpu not an ARM cpu like cell phones.

I changed the 16gb ssd for one of these (warranty void) - http://www.amazon.com/MyDigitalSSD-Super-Cache-Solid-State/dp/B00EZ2E8NO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1412524837&sr=8-2&keywords=m2+ssd (http://www.amazon.com/MyDigitalSSD-Super-Cache-Solid-State/dp/B00EZ2E8NO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1412524837&sr=8-2&keywords=m2+ssd)
Reinstall chromeos - enable developer mode - enable legacy boot - reboot and install ubuntu :)
Linux has doesn't use a lot of ram so the 2gb is more than enough. After ubuntu was installed I installed vmware player and then created a XP virtual machine and pass thru the usb hptuners device to the virtual machine.
This little laptop is pretty amazing. 6 hours + of battery life and weights/cost nothing. I drop it who cares right.
Ubuntu needs some drivers injected in the kernel for the touchpad and sound but other than that everything is straight forward.
Hell this thing even runs games on linux pretty well. I've tested CS:GO (40fps) and Xcom:Enemy Unknown on it and they were both playable.
this might be it http://www.direct-io.com/ (http://www.direct-io.com/)
Sorry to hijack the thread Jeremy
That was the the yellow car that had a peg-leg?
Got the viking shocks today - they are bad ass.
forgot to take pics - they are on the car now. We'll see how they do tomorrow. Should be nice cold air and low DA.
Just going to run N/A.
Yes the yellow car was a peg-leg most of the time I owned it - then I put a posi in it toward the end.
Paul, Jeremys car ended up here in Canada. The twin fan setup and the diff girdle are on my car...and the glass hood is on Norbs' car collecting dust. The last time I saw Jeremys car it was in Port Perry. I believe it was a T Type...but Jeremy can confirm.
Registered the car today and washed it.
Put 4 gallons of 93 and 2 gallons of E85 in it. Should freshen up the old gas
The BFG drag radials on it hate life with 4.56 gears. Forgot what power felt like....

Idling rich due to a bad o2 sensor.
Stock pistons - some guys hit them with 300 and they live and others break them with 150. It's all in the tune.
I'm happy with the numbers :)

26mph - hitting the rev limiter before the traps
Brad, maybe the body shop needs to do a transplant on your car....bring it back as a 4th gen. Me, I would put a thunderchicken on the hood!
26mph - hitting the rev limiter before the traps
26mph - hitting the rev limiter before the traps
Raise the limiter. ;)
My brother took his Mustang out yesterday for the last TNT of the year. I went 13.2@107. He had 60ft issues the clutches in his posi were not cooperating. Not bad for a junkyard engine. Once we actually tune the damn thing it should run a little better.
He's got some 4.10's for it. That should do it, as it has 3.27's now :O
I now own a th400 transmission. Supposed to be a good working unit. Lets see how much I can mess it up
That is one beautiful car! Kinda reminds me of Aggie Maroon :D
I think it's time for some forced aspiration!
Maple Red Metallic is the color. Depending on the light its red or burgundy.
Send me some of that baller money you have. When I decided to walk away from my job almost 2 years ago we lost 75% of our income. Jonny @ Huronspeed will hook me up when I'm ready. Or if I get bored I might build a kit....
hell, we don't even own a TV.damn.

not much forward - just looking to move it 1/2" or so to the rear.My bad. I misunderstood. Thought you needed to move forward
Suspension is my downfall...and I need to learn it. Steve posted a link for a book. Gonna get it this winter...and will prolly have plenty of questions.Better get it while you can. Prices have gone up considerably since I bought it.
Tuned my brothers 04 rcsb 2wd Silverado. Went from barely turning over the tire, to a one tire fire. Couldn't get the 60e to hit the 1-2 As I'd like, but he has an 80e waiting for it.
We will see what the judge says on Tuesday. It'll be another 30-45 days before I find out if I get SS disability.Keeping my fingers crossed for ya! Good luck!
Jeremy, I'm tiring real quick of recalibrating these fukn WB02 sensors.I'm running this with 93 and alky and no calibration required. Not sure how it will hold up on race gas.
Brad - also isn't yours close to the turbine? maybe move it further down stream.
I heard there was one station in Guelph and one in Ottawa and some out west
Almost 60 days no word - starting to stress. Lawyer checked the online portal and says nothing has been posted. Guess I sit on my hands and wait more.
I spent some $$$ this morning.
Huron Speed V1 turbo kit
VS Racing cast 78/75 turbo
VS racing 44mm wastegate
VS racing 50mm bov
no more filling bottles!
I've been saving my pennies for awhile. I still need fuel pumps, lines, injectors and fans. I'm thinking I can sell my n2o stuff and fast intake to covers most of that. Up in the air about the cam, we will see

Back in the turbo game! Congrats bro!!!!!!!!!!
I finally got my letter from social security - and I got approved :rock:Congrats! Can I get a loan?

Have you seen that yet Mike? It shows me making 490-500hp which would be about right for drivetrain loss and my rwhp dyno. It's pretty slick.
My good friend Christian lost his battle with cancer last night.
RIP Christian - you will be missed brother.

No progress to report, I've been working on the honey do list. Got to keep the wife happy. In a Mr. Miaga voice, " You must find balance no cooler-son!"
We have been looking for a new daily driver for me. The 03 escape I'm driving is just about dead. We have narrowed it down to a 2017 Ford Escape se awd and Honda CRV lx awd. The Honda is the responsible decision but the ford is more fun to drive, the 2.0 turbo puts out 245/270. The crv has a cvt and it feels like a rubber band. The crv has a turbo option but you have to go to a higher trim level to get it, and you get all of Honda "safety" crap - lane assist, adaptive cruise and so on. The turbo is quicker but the software seems to delay throttle input to smooth things out and improve fuel economy. Still up in the air - the escape puts a smile my face driving - but I know the Honda is just a better vehicle. Ford has some good incentives and Honda doesn't have any.
Nevermind it came up - I'm waiting on fuel lines. The rest of the stuff I'm working on an hour here and hour there. I can't push myself to hard or I'll pay for it.
Maybe someday - it'll take quite a bit of work to get there, pos will probably run 15s 1st time out!
I'm debating on a dump tube for the wastegate. Right now it dumps in front of the engine and I figure get as much heat out as possible, no reason not to send it under the car, out the fender or out the hood.
What a year so far: I've got another nerve block scheduled for tomorrow, Monday my dog Teddy goes in to have his knee repaired. Maybe I should have just left the damn car alone.
I hope that's all Mike!
Thanks everyone. Today is already better than yesterday.
The 128x32 OLED displays are sexy, just a couple of bucks on Aliexp and there are a few libraries around...

I missed this earlier. What "brand" of boost controller do you use?
I’m 99% sure my boost controller is Arduino powered as well. So if I get bored I might be able to combine the units and add other inputs.
https://m.ebay.com/itm/Electronic-Boost-Controller-LDperformance-OLED-gauge-and-3-port-Solenoid-/323310054532 (https://m.ebay.com/itm/Electronic-Boost-Controller-LDperformance-OLED-gauge-and-3-port-Solenoid-/323310054532)It uses a good NXP(Motorola) sensor so it may be good!
It’s this one.....don’t know if it works or if it’s a pos yet...
Cover kept it nice and clean.Love the color
Cover kept it nice and clean.race car!
I’ve been busy working on the car. I’ll have some updates this weekend :rock:Plastic?
I will say I broke the nipple off the damn map sensor for the boast controller, I need to see if I can replace the map or I can just run it open loop based using duty cycle.

Do not forget stall with a non L/U converter. If the converter supplier won't make a recommendation, you will have to guess. I guess 7% for 5500 stall or higher, for example. IMO, the difference in one ratio (3.25-3.5) is hundreds of a sec in a quarter, unless the car needs 60 ft help. Converters are not an exact science. I have known people who have bought 4 or 5 to get right. Expensive education.
3.50 - 3.25
I’ll look at it again Monday, it’s a 20 blade stator. I was planning on calling ptc, Brad can you pm me Dusty’s number. My gut says run it, get data and restall as needed.
From what I can see on the pic after playing with it: ptc9511 20-0-6L-SEP
Confirmed with the previous owner the converter is spragless
Confirmed with the previous owner the converter is spraglessI, for one, would certainly lurk a thread about experiences pertaining to sprag vs diode vs spragless.
Not even worried about it, it’s no different than lockup vs non lock - everyone has an opinion. Ptc has been making these spragless non locks for a lot of extremely fast street driven turbo cars for over a decade.
Talked to Lane @ PTC this morning - he thinks it's going to be to loose, and wants to put a 15 or 16 blade in it.
I wish I had not posted that. No matter how carefully worded, I never fail to side track someone's thread.
Yes, I have been to Drag Week events 2 of the last 3 yrs. I was at the US Nationals last yr. In all possible weeks of '018, I had 3 free weekends away from local tracks. I go for free. Not sure what that proves.
I apologize for the hijack. I am out.
Converter went out today! If that is a custom built converter (read expensive), my advice would be to touch base with the supplier.
Dunno, how many times have I sent the kids off for a wrench/hammer/tool describing exactly where it is -just to have them come back empty handed.
Not sure what you meant- but you were there too? :)Dunno, how many times have I sent the kids off for a wrench/hammer/tool describing exactly where it is -just to have them come back empty handed.
Shades of the Buick Xmas breakfast crew.
for the yoke to be about 1" from bottoming out in the tailshaft when measuring the driveshaft at ride height.I will add my .02 cents, without charge.
Wife and I both tested positive for donations influenza a. UghMan I feel for you guys... I firmly believe that school teachers build up tolerances early in their careers. Of course, my wife now just spreads it’s to me and the kids and never gets sick herself
I’m fully prepared to chase my ass around.I see your concerns. Does Holley have blue tooth? If so, maybe consider a tablet that can run RealDash.
The stock ecu is great and I’ve done well with it. Hp tuners is really good software, I’m just sick of their licensing. Now I need to upgrade my USB adapter to their new Bluetooth adapter. By the time I added the cost of new adapter, licensing, and a used gm p59 - it was only $200-300 more for the Holley. Made the decision pretty easy.
I’m trying to decide how far I want to go into the wiring. I may try to keep the stock pcm for some things. Unfortunately it does drive the cluster. The plan is to see If i can get the gas gauge, speedo working and continue to use the stock pcm for cooling fan control while the Holley does the rest. If not race car.
It’s Oh and it’s supposed to snow Thursday - it was 70f yesterdayThat is summer weather here! We had snow on the ground when I woke up this afternoon. :( It was 10F this morning.
well hurry up! Now that Brad has retired, you are my only hope for a life! :D
Shifter is mounted in the car. Need to adjust the cable and hook up the p/n and reverse switches. I'm already not sure if I like this pro-ratchet shifter....but it's what I have so I'm going rock it for now.Probably works better at the track than a column shift car. Keep doing it because you’re all I got to watch with all these hours I’m having to work
Another thing off the list.
I'm already not sure if I like this pro-ratchet shifter....but it's what I have so I'm going rock it for now.I have one in the Mazda. You will like it in time.
I've test fit the downpipe and everything clears after welding. I got the o2 bung welded in, it's closer to the turbo than I wanted but it'll work. Next step is loosen up the bumper cover and mark/drill. I tested on some of the cover I cut away last year and it came out good. Hopefully it'll be the same when I drill the actual hole!Slow is safe and safe is fast!
I feel like captain slow, but I'm still plugging away.
I'm up to 8000+ steps a day, 2 years ago it was 2500-4000 a day.Damn, in a normal day?
This past year, my motivation has gone away. If some one comes to visit, I get motivated but when I am by myself, I think how much my back is going to hurt, and I go back to my chair.Itsn't that amazing how that works !! Today I was goin to set the world on fire. Then the wife said her sister was coming over. :rolleyes; So here I sit banging keys

Scoob approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YesI am surprised at the stiction those thing have achieved - stupid design.
I got a builder to come out and give me a bid for my pole barn. Damn it ads up quick. Still waiting for the price on the 160 yards of fill and I need to call an electrician. The builder agreed that the way it zoned it's to tight to just build it, so I've called a local surveyor, so we can make sure our ducks are in a row with the township. Fingers crossed I can do a stand-alone building vs attaching it. I haven't looked at heating options yet, and I'm unsure how much heat I'll use. In-floor is nice but it's not an instant heat so it's great if you want to heat 24/7. If I just want to go out and work for a few hours here and there it's kind of overkill. Calculators say about 170,000btu for space - so I'm leaning toward a natural gas ceiling mount unit.Sounds nice! Are you putting a hoist in? Don't forget the bar and stripper pole in case Earl drops by!
Concrete should be level. I was considering moving the kickboards to the back of the 4x4s, for some toe space. Thanks for the ideas!Jeremy, hope you have a good water supply. Takes a ton of it to cool the concrete. Takes 28 days to fully cure.
Brad the only stuff I have is what I've drawn.
very nice
Looking good! Where is the stripper pole and bar? (http://www.ihadav8.com/forum/Smileys/default/icon_lol.gif)The stripper pole needs to be removable so, I can take it down and kick the strippers out before the wife gets home. The fridge was my beer fridge back from when I was able to drink alcohol, now it's got water and Coke in it.
I was wrong...it's not gonna go 9's...it's gonna go 8's. (http://www.ihadav8.com/forum/Smileys/default/icon_super.gif)not with this baby 78/75
back to back 130 MPH passesVMAX's are badass! I recall seeing some guy on Youtube make some ungodly passes on a Vmax.
I did that with my Vmax in 1990. 10.96 best of 3 tries. Gleason ran 10.2 @131 in 1985.
Obvious conclusion-he and I share no DNA.
My dad could only get low 11s out of his vmax, but he’s pretty easy on stuff unlike me. He’s got exhaust and a jet kit in it now but hasn’t taken it back.I can't 60 foot this R1 to save my life. Best ET I ever did was high 11's. It's got a tall first gear and you have to slip the clutch like a whore. 10 grand in 1st and 2nd produces a wheelie. No problem hitting red line in 3rd and it goes through the traps at just under 13 grand in 4th. Acceleration is breathtaking.
I will link to the official Yamaha promo. You can ff to about 3.30 and 6.00. To be clear, this is a '85 Max and the legendary Jay Gleason. The '85 would wheel dyno 150-155 hp. My '88 stock pulled 129. The good Yamaha parts were still available, afterwards it went 147hp.Badass...absolutely badass.
Houston Raceway, mph did not vary 1 mph. First pass 11.34. 2nd 11.11. Then the 10.96.

Brad his is starting to get rough, in a couple of years it'll be a rust bucket. But it wasn't the cleanest truck when he bought it.My son in law worked at a garage for a short period of time. We brought it in after hours and swapped out all the exhaust bolts.
His runs are fine, and now that he finally fixed the front end it drives decent. He drove 40 miles a day for 10 years with the front end so worn out it was more like driving a wore out farm tractor. The passenger side only has one exhaust bolt broken off, the driver side has 5 out the six broken lol.
Fingers crossed it's within what is considered normal and not excessive. I really don't want to have to spend more money putting a regulator on the circuit.pressure reg not voltage reg?
Brad, I'm not 100% sure what they use - but it does a number on metal.
Not 100% - the front of the pan was covered and there was about 4oz of fluid in the catch can. Im learning a hard lesson, my brothers envoy is on my lift - so I had to jack my car up….
My uncle called and really wants me to try the 10.0 index class, he is going to run the 8.5 class. Wants to go next Saturday, test and scope out the competition, then try the event in September when it comes back around.
I configured and tested the “bump” function, now I can light the top bulb build boost and bump into the 2nd.
Looks like this th400 is leaking again. I must be over tightening the pan, I think this time around I’ll just use a bead of the right stuff and be done with it.
quote] going from stock injectors to 50's, 60 then 80's
What change did that make?
I have heard that some leds were polarity sensitive but all that I have used seemed to work both waysSome brands put a diode bridge in front of the LEDs ,many don't.
Steve - If it comes in a thunderbolt sign me up!
Pretty sure Brad was saying to buy once cry once - rather than incremental upgrades.
