General Buick Tech / Baseline suspension pro upper control kit
« on: July 15 2014, 09:25:37 PM »
Finished the install this evening along with centering the rear end and setting pinion angle to 2.5 degrees.  Here's what the calculator came up with.  I took a wild ass guess with the weight numbers as I haven't been to a scale yet.  Do these numbers look somewhere in the ballpark of making a decent launch? Questions for you suspension smart guys,  after centering the rear end, I could only get 2.5 degrees on the pinion angle as one of the upper control arms was bottomed out.  How can I fix this?

I'll move the ground to the chassis some where

which is the terminal on the analog block that Bob does not like to use?  Ground or 5v?

I hope someone else knows because I'm using both.  I hope it's the ground...

If I followed this correctly- you might want to now log the TPS 5v for a run. You changed the 5v source but what was going on with the old 5V source?

Original problem was that the boost signal was jumping all around from 20 psi to 10 on the log that was in the first post. I thought that I may have a waste gate actuator that wasn't holding the boost.  Earl asked if I had the MAP sensor power source spliced into the TPS, which I did.  TPS is now back to its original configuration with no Y harness installed. MAP sensor now has a new source for power

I disconnected the "T" from the TPS, reconnected the TPS to its original plug. Removed the y harness that ran between TPS and the MAP sensor.  Ran power and ground wire from the power logger block, terminal 6 (5 volts) and 4 (ground), to the grey wire (positive) and black wire (ground) on the MAP sensor.  Checked it all over, 4.98 volts at the MAP sensor, hooked up the computer, checked for signal on power logger with the key on.  Started it up and then went and made the run.

Ran a power and ground to the analog block of the power logger.  Run starts at about frame 630.  Boost signal is now steady.  Would someone care to explain?

I was thinking the same thing.  Quick and easy to disconnect the piggy back from the TPS and run a temp power/ground wire. I'll try to make another run this evening and throw up the results.  Thanks

That thing looks beefy!

The only other time I feel like this is when I'm actually behind the wheel of my turbo buick

I'd rather stay away from the analog block.  Any recommendation s on a 12v to 5v converter?

Why? It would be using the same stable power source as the datalogger reading the sensor... or telling the same lie.

As for the converter, nope.  I would google it if I wasn't using a plug and play harness.

The other option is use the factory MAP sensor power for the factory boost gauge.
Don't want to risk frying the ECM...
I have a digital dash, so no power source.
Seem to be quite a few converters out there and they are reasonably priced.  Anybody ever use one?

Yes they get power from same place.  MAP is connected to power source at the TPS. How could I route another power source for the MAP?

Can someone please take a look at this log and confirm my suspicion that the waste gate actuator is not holding.  Boost jumps around quite a bit. Only made a 1st/2nd gear pull and little into third.

HD adjustable actuator, RJC boost controller.  Pull starts at frame 500 or so

I'm liking it!  Is this going in women and wheels magazine?  If so, I'll be looking for that issue!

There's a newer car show that covered this abomination - "What's In The Barn" on Velocity

Watched that episode.  I believe the guys name in the photo is "Wild Bill."  Way cool bike though.  Had hydraulics to work the kick stands. There appeared to be some varying stories to his death....
