IHADAV8 Playground / message from the Queen
« on: October 11 2011, 09:56:53 PM »
Email from the Queen - an important announcement regarding the USA

To the citizens of the United States of America from Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In light of your immediate failure to manage yourselves financially and in recent years also your tendency to elect incompetent Presidents of the USA and therefore remain unable to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. (Look up 'revocation' in the Oxford English Dictionary.)

Her Sovereign Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except Kansas, which she does not fancy).

Your new Prime Minister, David Cameron, will appoint a Governor for America without the need for further elections.

Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire may be circulated sometime next year to determine whether any of you noticed.

To aid in the transition to a British Crown dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

1. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'colour,' 'favour,' 'labour' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix

IHADAV8 Playground / My visit to DC
« on: June 02 2011, 10:37:55 PM »
some or you may know that my wife's Mom married an ex Green Beret from the Vietnam Era assigned to General Abrams and also was in Grenada and in Panama during the Noriega campaign...He specializes in intelligence. He just got back from Afghanistan as a private contractor to the U.S armed forces. Had numerous meetings with Petraeus on a weekly basis. He is a retired Lt Colonel.. He was in charge of other ex Armed forces that went out into the field with Regulars  to observe and report back to better inform those in command as to what steps they should take. He was very vague as to what they did in the field.. It was interesting that he contact my mother in-law to order a different flak jacket and holster for his personal side arm. He also mentioned that he had to be re-certified in the U.S. for side arm and automatic weapons... more to follow

IHADAV8 Playground / Intersting Stories
« on: March 02 2011, 10:00:16 PM »
SW has a few and I have some also...so lets start them off here..does not have to be a story but also a reflection on different upbringings or school systems or anything that you wish to post...I will start

When I met Queen Juliana of the Netherlands

I was living in Holland in Vlaskamp staying in an apartment complex...acro ss the street was the Royal residence with an expansive park. There were a lot of English people living in these apartments most employed by Shell as well as other English that were employed by American companies...my Father was Employed by Addressograph-Multigraph http://stampedout.net/information-022-am_his.html although the website says the name was changed in 1978 in Europe it was known as AM International as I was there for the name change ceremony. My Dad started as an apprentice Engineer for AM when we lived in Hemel Hempstead in England. He worked his way up to become a Instructor and was asked to head up the Dutch Branch...but I digress...even though I have stories and pictures of his visit to the US in the late 60's and his Trip to Russia during the same time. back to my story...A group of us were riding our bikes in the park were the queen lived...there were no security precautions even though there was a police presence...you could ride your bike up to the front door. So we were cruising around when we heard a Helicopter.... at it landed in front of the House...The Helicopter (think it was a Sea King) shut down and we we rode our bikes over and the Queen got out....We were standing 100' from her...We knew who she was and she approached us and the guys bowed and the girls curtsy she asked us in Dutch how we were doing...we responded in Dutch that were were well also telling her that we were English,,,she then responded in perfect English asking us were we lived and what we were doing...We were looking for Chestnut trees so we could play conkers...afte r about 5 mins of conversation an aide came up to her and she bid farewell...I still remember the pea gravel where helicopter landed...and the cropped bushes...up next ..Birthday and Christmas parties at various Embassies during my stay in Holland as I attended The British School in the Netherlands and various Ambassadors sent their children to the school...

Buick Events / BPG T-PARTY special guests
« on: February 01 2011, 08:37:57 PM »
On behalf of The Buick Performance Group, I officially invite you all as Buick owners, enthusiasts and spectators to our 2011 National Event July 29-31, 2011 at National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio. We have had our "reunion events" focus on the Gran Sport Stage 1, and the GSX. Now it is time to devout our attention to one of the fastest, most under-rated muscle cars of all time. The cars that in subdued colors, lacked the flare and tenacity of the Grand National, but had the same drive train and guts on the inside. The cars that ate Mustang 5.0s since their inception in 1986 and were the fastest American built car in the 1980s, and second only worldwide to the Porsche 911 Twin Turbo. The car that had to be eliminated b/c it upset Chevrolet corporate staff because it violated GM

IHADAV8 Playground / Muslims vs Christians the end is near
« on: January 27 2011, 09:59:45 PM »
are we heading back to 11th thru 13th century with the Crusades..... with the revolts going on in Egypt...the confrontations in England and France... was NOSTRADAMUS right that the end is near....If history has taught us anything religious wars are never won...but I am a little afraid that the Muslims have the upper hand as today's Christians are wrapped up in themselves...w here the Muslims are united in a common cause...it is interesting that the Muslim religion has had a huge influence on western civilization.. .I do not think that in America it will be much of an issue...althou gh we have seen some influence but I am worried about Europe. With laws being adjusted to benefit the Muslim religion. When you emigrate to another country to seek a better way of life you should assimilate to that country not change it to suit your needs. I am afraid that America is becoming so politically correct that we will lose the American identity...
