Title: So You Like Tech Questions????
Post by: kma697 on October 12 2006, 06:26:01 PM
Thinking about upgrading my MAF.  Looking at the Lt-1 w/Trans...any recommendation s?  Car is going to stay stock for the most part (how many of you have said that before?).  Would an Ls-1 be better or necessary for a stocker?

I'd say go for it. Any stock replacement is gonna suck ass, as I'm on my third one. The LS1 MAF will will in more airflow and be less of a restriction later on in your quest for boost. I've also heard the LS1 sensor smooths out the idle on the car too. I'm sure there are more reasons, but that's what I got.

Either is far superior to the stock MAF. I'd go for the LSI because
I've always believed in the "pay me now, or pay me latah theory".

The stock MAF will fail sooner or later.  I choose to go ahead and upgrade to the LS1 MAF and the regular Translater.    It was expensive, because at the same time I also went with the Big Mouth kit with the 3.5" MAF pipe.

One thing to consider is just going with the LT1 MAF since it is 3" and will fit in place of your current MAF.

If you ahve the duckets to spare - replace the stocker.

Stockers can only be found remanufactured, and it's a crap shoot of they will work, and for how long they will work. The translator is a badass setup.

Don't forget the hose adapters you may need, I had to get a 3" > 3.5" adapter hose to adapt from my inlet pipe to the 3.5" MAF.

$22.99 on Full Throttle
