Title: smell something burning
Post by: phil_long on May 31 2016, 10:43:50 AM
Last night I noticed a smell coming from the rear end of the car. I'm not familiar with posi rear ends and their function, but is it possible for it to go bad? That's the only thing that comes to mind that I can think of in the rear of the car...and this smell was definitely noticeable and smelled like a clutch..

brakes?

Pull the plug out of the diff and smell the fluid?

Open the trunk and see if the body in there smells burnt?

I'll check for these things. It's the weirdest thing ever and just sniffing around, it's def not under the hood. Hell, it could be the damn tranny.  :hmm

E-brake could be dragging a tad.

Brakes and clutches smell the same since they're pretty much the same friction material.

Probably not part of a good recipe for getting the best track times. Good you found it.
