Title: Plenum Spacer-Any Advantage?
Post by: Scoobum on June 16 2015, 10:18:14 PM
Any advantage to running a plenum spacer? If so...why?

Conley used to run them, but most claim they do no good.  I think a good plenum like the PTE or a reworked Hemco will do the job better

I have a conley's performance car in my sideyard. It does not have a spacer on it. I often wonder if it helps these cars as a large spacer helped a carbed car when I raced dirt track cars. I have a older hemco upper on my car and was going to throw it out but after hearing steve tell me they are good pieces I will keep it. It just looks like it forces air into the center on the intake not using the whole upper port area.

5 and 6 tend to run lean..the hemco tends to reduce some of the air going to them and evens out the distribution

The one I briefly tried sure did a good job of making things like IC pipes line up really poorly.
I only run one on my dirt track car to keep the carb cool so the fuel doesnt boil in the bowls after shut down.
