Here's the deal. I'm heading to an 1/8th mile facility Sunday morning...weat her permitting. Track is smooth and sticky...but I'm gonna get kicked after one run...for no bar. Temperature will be 50 degrees...same as my 7.03 run 2 weeks ago. Humidity will likely be higher...possi ble showers in the forecast. With 23 lbs of boost I saw 1.2 KR going through the traps...with 02's at 744. Plan is to turn the boost up to 26 lbs...and make a run. IDC on that 23 lb pass was 84 percent...so I'm running out of pump and injector. I'm gonna bump up the fuel pressure to 46. High gear fueling is at Erics 128 default. Given the info...what should I bump the high gear fueling to? I've got one shot at this...we can't be wrong. :)
Here's Erics chart: http://www.turbotweak.com/turbotweakinstructions57.pdf (http://www.turbotweak.com/turbotweakinstructions57.pdf)

Two shots would be better! :D
okay, if you go to 46 psi from 43, you add 3.5% more fuel. Air is cold so it will be dense. I think I would raise the chip from 128 to 135. I would also pull one degree of timing out of third gear.
-
I'll back Erics high gear timing off 1 degree...and jump high gear fuel to 135. 2nd gear fueling was 760. Add a couple points of low gear fueling...or leave it...as the higher fuel pressure may cover it?
-
To be safe, you might add 3 numbers
-
Will do. One other thing. I added 2 degrees low gear timing for that 7.03 run. Go back to Erics low gear timing default...or leave as is?
-
I think I would leave it....hell, it is all just an educated guess...not like we have any data points from the past...that turbo pumps some serious air and that is why I think I am being cautious
Not sure how far we can push 110 octane but the 1/8 mile does not last long enuf to really get it cooking
-
Fueling/timing changes should be fine for the 1/8th...we'll be fine. 1/4 would be dicey. Long range is now sun/cloud and a high of 13C. It's a 3 hour run one way. I must be losing my mind.

sanity leads to the destruction of the individual.... who wants to be a sheep? You can buy a Mustang if that is your goal

Good luck.

Thanks...and with Steve's help I'll put it into the 6's. I'm incredibly fortunate that I'm one of these people that listens...seem s that few do these days. If you listen to guys like Steve, Ed Baker, Grumpy, Earl, Paul, Bison and a few others...you'll go a long way. Knowing one's limitations is always good. I haven't got a clue of XFI, BS3, MAFTPRO...or any of the other fuel management systems. What I do understand...i s Erics 5.7 chip...so I stay with it...cuz it's a snap to adjust. If you can understand the data that PL spits out at you...then you can go plenty fast with Erics chip.

I sure wish that there were folks close by that understood this stuff. Being a points and carb guy all my life, this stuff is has a decent learning curve. You're right about eric's chip, you can go pretty dang fast with it. And after lots of reading, and feeling like a dumb ass sometimes when "the light" finally comes on, this stuff starts to make sense. I wish I was better at understanding most of what people are trying to tell you on these forums. I always felt it was easier for me to talk and learn from folks in person.
Onto my original thought, are you running alky? I think it says in eric's instructions something about there being an aggressive mode in the low gear timing. Anything other than 128 in the low gear timing parameter box activates it. I'm certian you already considered this or are not running alky
-
He is running 110 octane and no alky
These cars are not that complicated but things are done differently. You have to ask questions when you don't understand something and you will gradually learn. Eat one piece of the cake at a time and it will become more clear. Stuff the whole thing in your mouth at once and you will choke on information overload.
-
X2 on the ask. If you understand timing with points, the curve and when its all in, this is way easier. Don't even have to dig out a timing light and get under the hood. Carb is messy, this just gets adjusted and you make another run. Just have to know the static and rise with boost is happening, then adjust and run, and adjust some more.
-
Erics alky chip has aggressive mode. Move off the 128 default low gear timing to 129...and full low gear timing hits instantly...in stead of being delayed. In theory your 60 foot will improve and you should shave time off your 1/8th.

If it hooks.

12C and possible showers tomorrow. Gonna hold off for the 3 day Thanksgiving Day race at my local track next weekend. They won't say shit to me in morning practice on the Sat and Sun. As long as I run a 7.3 dial for eliminations.. .it'll be good.

Give you a chance to see if we guessed right on the fueling. I was trying to be a bit on the rich side.
