Title: Texas fires
Post by: Pyro6 on September 06 2011, 01:16:52 PM
Was watching the news at lunch and was just wondering how Steve, Charlie and everybody from Texas is doing in relation to the fires. I wish we could send you our rain to help out.

the big fire is about 175 miles SE of me....the other day there was a steady stream of fire trucks going by...I think I heard there were something like 32 fires in the area.  Most were small, tho.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Closest to me is less than 40 miles right now. Just on the other side of lake Whitney. It's west southwest of us and now that the wind has come back out of the south it should burn out, God willing. As Steve can tell you, goats are a great help in these types of situations because they eat just about everything in site. We've got some trees but the ground cover is mostly gone so there's less of a chance of fire spreading at my place, I hope.
