Our last dog was a GSD. She was my Grandfather's dog for the first 10 years of her life. She came to live with us after my Grandfather passed. We were blessed with her presence for 5 more years. Such a wonderful dog! It was a struggle without her.

About 7 to 8 months later, I visited the local shelter & brought home an Aussie mix.

I've read over the Charlief1 poor man's suspension thread more times than I'd care to admit. I want to do some of the mods as we are swapping frames on the ogT so I thought we might as well upgrade if we are swapping stuff anyway.
I put in an order for some ssm front upper arms. Looked into the 1/2" longer ball joints and actually purchased some rear hr parts upper and lower arms. Also got an energy suspension polyurethane body bushing kit but have come to the conclusion I will probably need some new bolts. As the kit doesn't come with new ones.

This will take some time so stay tuned if interested. I'll see what can ensue and post some pix.


Box of bushings


Bag of washers and spacers I guess. I'll have to see how they come out so I know how to put them back together. Will use some never sieze though I would hope to not take it apart again.


HR parts upper arms


Part number for the 2.5" studs, not sure if these will be long enough but I didn't want to have them be way too long and have to cut em off

Any feedback on this set-up yet?

Anyone familiar with this part?

How does it compare to using the original center link & an aftermarket tie rod bump steer kit?

Will it perform as well or better with a tie rod that has a ball joint at each end, vs. a Heim joint? Does the spindle end of the tie rod still need to be mounted lower?

I'm thinking a ball joint would be preferable to a Heim joint for street driver longevity.

Sorry to hear of your losses. My Buick has been sitting due to the same.

You might try adding a quart or two of Marvel Mystery oil (have heard good reports on Sea-Foam also) & bring engine up to operating temperature before committing to disassembly.

I have vacuum assist master cylinder from a Monte Carlo. The check valve was included. It is where the vacuum hose connects at the master.

That actually goes to the passenger side fender. I will try the Autozone kit. All the parts stores I have tried do not have a check valve bigger than 1/8”.

Check the replacement frequently. They don't last near as well as the OEM part.

Clearance is good. Now you have me thinking which belt to use.

1989 Turbo Trans Am belt is slightly shorter & works well.

See the end of the bolt from the A/C compressor mount? The tensioner pulley was tapping against it.

Smaller drive pulley?

Check the clearances around the tensioner pulley. Sometimes it makes contact with nearby bolt.

Run shorter TTA belt.

Have you tested your PCV valve to verify that it blocks boost pressure from entering crankcase?
