new data log from my quickest run today
« on: January 12 2014, 09:24:00 PM »
RPMs dropping 500-600 at shifts and at 5600 plus it start to knock, and i am getting to 5600rpm before the end of the track. I havent change my converter or changed the oil sending sensors in the valve body yet. how do I get quicker if i cannot turn more than 5600rpms

make more hp is the obvious answer :}  the boost is low so that should not be a problem

or run a 28" tire

but it should not be knocking at 5600 rpm so there is another problem

Looks to me like the timing retard showed up when you let off the gas or on the shift....would not be surprised if the sensor was hearing a jerk...somethi ng moving on the shift

Thanks Steve, I think I will try to put the converter in this weekend and also install the new sensors, than I guess the rest is turning up the boost.

It's hearing something when you're shifting. Battery voltage under load is below 13 volts. Your injector duty cycle is getting up there.

WOT 02's are 770 at the top of 3rd gear. I'd be throwing high gear fuel at it if I wanted to run more boost.

here is a new log from 1/19/14, fastest pass to date 11.11 @ 119.9  1.584 60ft . I have change the converter and the two pressure switches in the trans and are now working. the three other passes I made today I spun at the line, after watching videos we noticed the only the right tire would spin after take off. now we have rear end problems.

following up on what Brad mentioned before...volta ge is a bit low...if you compare what is coming out of the back of the alternator to what the scantool is reading..how do they compare?

Also what is the injector size?  Brad mentioned before that the duty cycle is starting to get close to max.  I was thinking you were running 60 lb injectors?

Are you running alky?

It is a bit rich at launch...I would probably drop the 1/2 fuel trim adjustment a couple of numbers.

Your sixty ft time was pretty good but you mentioned the right tire was spinning...you car is making enuf power that you may have to do some rear end work pretty soon...you could band aid it with an air bag on that side with maybe about 15 psi of pressure in it...but, if the clutches are going, it may not be too long before you need about 25 psi in it.

Saw nothing that looked like detonation to me

What converter did you put in it...looks pretty loose to me.

Was this run still with the 255 tires?  If so, it would probably be in the tens with 28" tires.  I noticed that the mph on PL was low compared to the 119 the timing slip showed-made me wonder if you had found a pair of taller tires.

I would be tempted to add a degree of timing to 3/4 and see if the mph came up any at the line.

PTC 3000 10" , still running the 255s, I noticed at the take off that the mph did not seem to be registering correct to be over 5000 rpm before showing any speed and showing 21 psi of boost,.  also I am running 60lb injectors with alky, I did add fuel in the chip to be safe 140 @ WOT , but i did not take any out of 1&2,

those injectors with alky should be able to carry you to close to 10.0  I suspect the car was rich on top end but only tuning will answer that for sure

I seem to recall that you have a fairly small turbo....that may be putting a damper on the top end pull

Looks like you left around 5000 rpm with a lot of boost...I am surprised those tires could hold it...did you glue the tires to the track at the line?

Go find some 28" tires

turbo is a te-60 , i just dont think that the mph started reading at take off. my brakes dont hold that good to be at 21psi boost on the line. I have my rjc manual boost controller screwed in all the was and only get 21-22 psi boost so I will add washers behind the spring. these tire are fairly new but my next set will be 28s

I was wondering if your turbo can flow enuf air at that rpm to make power.  The fact that you can only get 21-22 psi may suggest that possibility unless you don't have an HD actuator on the turbo-if you have the standard, then that may not be the case

I believe you have reached the limits of that Turbo...time to start saving for a 6262...altho that one has been out for awhile so I am sure there is another whiz bang turbo out there that is the latest bees knees
