Whats up with under drive pullies?
« on: July 22 2005, 03:29:47 AM »
Should I get one and put it on now while the engine is sitting in my living room or is it easily done at a later time when the engine is in the car?

Whats up with them? HP gains? Is it worth buying one?

Do you also lower your engine into bed at night and sleep with it?

FWIW & IMHO:
I can't say that I have had any first hand experience with them on a turbo Buick, but most of the threads that I have seen indicate that they don't work as well on turbo Buicks as they do on rustangs & such. Just my $ .02 worth, before taxes, too. I would never put them on a nice motor like yours, fwiw. On a high mileage motor getting ready to go for a rebuild, I would try anything once.

For an engine like yours, I would put nothing less than a complete set of standard size RJC Racing billet pulleys.

Yeah, I've never read a sig that says "i use underdrive pullies and run 11's".

I plan on getting the pullies from RJC oneday...maybe sooner than later. Dont know yet. I have Vegas to think about. I promise TopSpeed, I'm not trying to make my engine look like yours :prayer:

Oh, and also, Didnt you want to have sex with your engine? Thats the perks of not having a garage! "baby, if I dont put it inside, someone will steal it".  :supz:

I think that was me, I wanted to tape pictures of his engine to the back of a girls head.
My 1958 Mamiya can beat up whatever camera you just wasted your money on.

You are correct! How about downing a 12 pack and tapeing a pic of my engine to the back of a girls head?  :rofl;

It dims your lights and fucks up your power steering at idle.

I have a set of March pulleys, that I bought slightly used at a swap meet.
The guy I bought them from had an 11 sec GN, but not because of the pulleys alone.
If your GN is a street car with a big stereo, I wouldn't recommend them because
they slow down the alternator. Otherwise they're fine. HP gains arent very much
(approximately 6-10HP),but a horse power gain is still a gain. They're also
easily changed in the car, if you have suitable tools for the job.
