Title: Tree weekend part 2 Saturday
Post by: daveismissing on July 04 2012, 08:57:40 AM
Right caliper begins grinding noises about half way there. Gears down , coast, grit teeth.
Finally get as far as the private road int the cottage. Its a bazillion (metric) degrees
Did I mention the AC parts for the F150 have not yet arrived?

Suspicious tree IS fallen a ways up the road. Debris has been cleared  already- doesn't look too serious....

Well.... start firing up breakers...NO juice

Fortunately only 10 days( learned afterwards) have passed for the fridge contents to fester within. aromas....
Good thing we have all that running water to clean up NOT.

Hydro utility dispatches withing an hour(kudos) and after much voltmeter reading and angst decide faraway tree did jerk the aerial line,
break entrance cap and short conductors against the now bent entrance mast.  Both conductors must be zapped open to support said hypothesis.

Convenient- since one needs to replace the service mast anyways, why not the wires too.

The helpful bucket truck arrives and at the roadway: snip-sip the last vestiges of electrical service fall to the ground.
Dave gets to sign a lockout tag and see it affixed to the pole.

Finally cottage life as it should be. Freedom from the electron's oppression.
No nasty cell phone/ laptop/kindle charging, no ghastly tungsten filament illumination.

Propane rules!
free at last- free at last!
