Like, What the hell are valve cover breathers for? What is their purpose.

They help relieve crankcase pressure. The PCV (positive crankcase ventillation)
valve applies a small amount of vacuum to the crankcase, and the breathers provide an air path into the crankcase when blowby is low.

I think they are really there to aid the valve covers in spewing oil on the headers

my covers have a grommit cup type thing that the breathers fit into. I think it would greatly reduce any chances of that. Thank gawd!
