1970 C10 what are these wires/plugs for?
« on: August 12 2024, 09:01:06 AM »
We're trying to put our 1970 C10 back together after having the body/paint done so we decided to tackle a lot of the wiring some mad scientist did before us.

Found this broken wire on the passenger side, with a plug that must have had a glass fuse in it that corroded and caused it to stick and break when I pulled it apart.

There is an identical one on the driver side.

Can't find it in the wiring diagram...any ideas what it's for?

That looks familiar from my Camaro days but I can not bring it up in my memory bank.

Makes me wonder if it has been added on.  Does a meter show it is connected?  Thinking of reading resistance to on the non hot side to ground.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Also, check it for voltage to see what takes to get power going thru it.  Is one side hot with key off, on when the lights are on , radio on, etc.

This may help for that or future problems. I dont remember glass fuses on anything under the hood from the factory. I would say its a add-on to trigger a relay or single circuit since the wire gauge is so small
