Paul Ferry takes over Buick GS Club GSCA
« on: August 15 2019, 09:03:50 AM »
Such a nice man, we wish Paul great success!!!...
.Well it's official...   I have taken on the Buick GS Club of America, which so far is a LOT more time/effort/expense than I figured it would be.  There was an article in the SPRING issue of the GSX-tra newsletter letting people know about it, and a follow-up article with more details in this current (SUMMER) issue too.  We created a NEW website:  www.BUICKGSCA.org (Make sure to use the  .ORG  at the end) where people can finally renew or join the club easily and safely online too.  It's kinda basic for now, but is correct & functions good.  We will add more pictures & pages as time allows.  I got some high hopes for the club, and plan to do as much for the members as I can & give a LOT back if it grows like I think it will.  Hope you all get to be a part of it!

....snip...
The new owner Paul Ferry (aka HRpartsNstuff) has been outspoken for the benefit of the members for over 20 years in the club, with a new goal to constantly improve on the experience and value for the members. With a revived vision and 40th anniversary coming up, it is fueling all kinds of new and exciting ideas to give more back to the members (like a club should be)! The previous owner (Richard Lassiter) will become a contributing editor, and help out with his incredible resource of Buick related information over the years.

The way I understand it Paul gets and runs the gsca club and Richard L. still keeps and runs the GS Nationals. I wish Paul a lot of luck and credit. He is a great guy. Not sure how the Nats with improve with Richard still in charge. Time will tell.

I go to the nats for the track time. Last year we tried to rent the track on Wednesday and we got the hand. Year before we couldn’t use the track while the cars were being judged. You want me to keep paying and going then open up the track

The first thing to understand is that it was never a club.  It is a private business.  But when you try to follow the paper trail it goes all over the place.  Lassiter and Dallas Jones, the owner of Beech Bend are the primary owners when you do your homework.  I don't remember if Red Armstrong had a share or not, but, he was a major player one way or the other as well.

They have a storied history and it is not a good one.  They have made a lot out of the so called club but people keep going in spite of all the things that have been pulled on them.

Bennett Jones owned the GS Nats and Richard lassiter the GSCA.  Dallas Jones owns the track.Today as per postings lassiter runs ( maybe owns) the GS Nats and Paul Ferry took over the GSCA.If Paul can sort all this out it would be good for Buick owners.  But with lassiter still in the picture

Interesting announcement today from Paul:
FYI - Richard Lasseter has said that the GS National EVENT was separate
from the Buick GS Club of America (GSCA).  So that means we will be
providing coverage of as many Buick events around the USA (and world)
that we can for the members!  Where it was somewhat limited to 1 event
in the past, members will now see all the REALLY COOL stuff going on out
there!  We had a good number of NEW people joining, and a bunch of
people that let their membership lapse (DECADES for some) are now
returning! The future looks BRIGHT!

Really tuff getting members back once they leave. An having Richard still running the BG event I don't see change coming. It's getting smaller and smaller every year. Night TT and qualifying would be awesome. BUT wouldn't get my hopes up. Good Luck to Paul. Be great to prove me wrong  :chin:

I'm in the "decades for some" category. On a side note, does this mean you don't have to be a gsca member to race at the Nationals?
My last nationals was 91 and it sure looks by the pix I've seen the last decade has had a serious decline in attendance.

You don’t have to be a member to race. I’m not a member.
