We had a bunch of worn out holes in the 440 heads (header holes).  We used Timeserts because I had heard they were much better than other options.  They took a lot of work compared to helicoils and we used blue loctite on them because some go into the water jackets.

Recently, I saw one of the youtube channels testing them vs other threaded fasteners and they did not do as well as the old helicoil when it came to strength.  I guarantee the helicoils are faster, easier, and a lot cheaper.

I think I would use some loctite and install them to stay LOL

Cheap is the way to go as long as it is an insert

and my favorite channel because I cannot figure out how he talks so fast without missing a beat.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jknMrFOGMOQ

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

I went with a helicoil - I needed up repairing both bottom holes
I'm gonna let the thread locker setup and put it back together tomorrow

Whiskey tango foxtrot….
Got it all buttoned up and nothing - no fluid flow. I ran it through all the gears, had the dipstick out of the tube and after I shut it down it volcano’d fluid out of the dipstick tube and made a mess.
Who knows what I messed up - sigh

I did not think of that Steve.
It’s got a puke tank setup and I did tighten the fitting in the case. I wonder if the way it’s drilled and tapped it intersects the hole and running it in tighter may have blocked it?

After removing the vent fitting it builds some pressure but it’s way down, won’t engage and sounds like and air compressor when you shut it down.
I guess I get to tear it back apart. I’m guessing the gasket for the pump moved or I really messed something up.
What are the chances I knocked the filter loose messing with it? I guess dropping the pan is easier than the transmission.

I would guess not much chance on the filter, but, might as well start with the easy and hope!  I have seen stranger, less likely...

I'm not thinking it's likely, I find it odd that the damn thing is still leaking - so the paper gaskets probably moved on me when I put the pump in.

Any sign of warpage. Wondering if those holes were stripped by someone trying to stop it from leaking

Well, it's back in and works, but it still fucking leaks.
From what I could see everything is flat.
Where it's leaking it could only come from the pump, fluid sits on top of the pan rail directly under the pump - I'm not seeing how it could come from anyone else as it'd have to flow up hill.
It doesn't leak when it's running only when it sits - I need a break from this damn thing.
