Forum's slow so I figured I'd talk about my firechicken.

I've been fighting to get this car to hook for sometime. It'd go 1.5's but not consistently and it should go easy 1.4's. I thought it was due to the mass of the new twin disc, then wondered if the slicks were toast, then started thinking about the rear shocks.

So today I tore the drivers shock out - it's a QA1 Gen F 24 way double adjustable. Both compression and rebound adjusted fine. Put it back on and checked the suspension how much drop I had and found this

I guess I should explain - it's got 1.25" of extension - not nearly enough for a stick shift car.

Damn thing has been topping out the shocks and unloading - or at least that's what I'm hoping.

Did get a good pass in last week. Faceplated T56 ftw!

Patriot CNC'd LS6 heads with dual springs
231/237 .589./595 112 LSA cam
Fast 78mm intake/Throttle body
36lb GM ASA injectors
Lid/Fasttoys Ramair
Ebay headers, ypipe
Magnaflow catback with cutout
Nitrous Outlet plate - usually hit it with 100 or 150 - not spraying in the video.

Brad, you ought build one of these....be like a bike with 4 wheels   You can shortcut the process because he has learned a lot as to what works and what does not.

He has been playing with this one for a few years now.  He got sidetracked for awhile recovering from his accident but he seems to be going full bore now.  I really like the car.

Jeremy, what have you done to make the tranny survive?  Does not sound like you are taking it easy on the shifts.  I always had a bad habit of not letting off the gas and not using the clutch very much...some of these new trannies don't hold up to what I would consider normal racing...

120 mph...it comes on on top end! 100 hp shot must turn it into a beast

Trans was built buy liberty gears here in MI. It's faceplated and has a viper mainshaft. All parts were heat treated and shot peened.


With it being faceplated the box is un-synchronized 1st thru 4th. It still needs you to clutch it but only enough to get it out of gear and then you slam it into the the next @ WOT. It's clunky and loud around town, but with some double clutching and practice most people wouldn't even notice.


The rear is a Midwest Chassis (MWC) fab 9" w/4.56 gears and a tru-trac diff, 31 spline axles. ABS still functions. It's got MWC's short torque arm, spoon's antiroll bar, umi lower control arms, and a 3.5" PST Aluminum driveshaft.


QA1 single adjustable coil overs out front and double adjustable out back.


100 shot it's been 130mph - 150shot, 132mph. Best et with the T56 is like a 10.6@131.


I've been fighting a traction issue this year with the new twin disc clutch. It hits the tires harder do to more mass and it's instant burnout if I go WOT on the 2-step and dump the clutch. I've tried everything shock settings, suspension mount points and tire pressure. I even put the 4.56 gears back in the thing from the 4.11's.


I think I found the issue - being the shocks don't have enough travel on extension.
