How fast can you go with an SMC progressive alky kit?

the little external pump they use doesnt make a lot of pressure and that pressure has to overcome boost pressure

the faster you can go without alky will help when you run alky '
bigger FMIC and turbo helps because in the end its the air charge temps that need to be reduced
for a stockish car its fine and was never really meant to set any records in the alky world just keep an eye on the pump and if you can log the alky pressure to better keeep a watch on the pump output
ive had lots of problems with the SMC progressive little external pump leaking and guys knocking long before they made it to the tens

that said , buy the razor kit

the single nozzle razor kit just made it into the nines with a  67turbo

a few made high Tens...it was a good mid-eleven second set up.  Biggest problem I have had was having them not spray if they sat a few weeks.  Pump will run but nothing sprays...tap on the valves and suddenly it will work again.

One of mine has lost pressure finally.  I am debating whether to replace it with one of these which is a bit stronger pump-2 gal pump http://www.kimsupply.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1356/.f

Or got to a Shurflow which pulls quite a bit more current.  Steve C says his driver will handle a larger pump but the heat sinks are a bit small.  I don't drive mine enuf to want to spend money for a couple of new set ups.

I always hit the test button in the staging lanes to make sure it drowns out the engine before making a run. I've got the alky turned wide open and the chip at max fuel in high gear. This kit has served me well...but it's time to grab one from Razor. As always...thank s for the input guys.

I still have the old non-progressive kit sitting around.  im installing only because I have it. Seems decent enough for my expectations.  Where the internal pumps any better than the external pumps on the progressive setup?

The Razor kit is very well designed and was a fairly simple install. I never really got to test its true gains on the track but in terms of detonation with the alky kit on and running I rarely seen any, Unless it was false.

nice.  I figured the install would be a bit tougher for us digital dash users

nice.  I figured the install would be a bit tougher for us digital dash users

the digital dash (and gnx style dash) only requires a little work to power the map sensor plug under the hood .  splice in the map connector wires (above the ecm) to the 5v tps and tps low ground from engine harness by the ecm
there is a plug and play from casper or hartline for those that cant put  two wires together

the analog guys already have power at the map sensor but that connector gets its 5v power from the tach boost module, and those modules arent reliable after 26+years,   they should also jump the power and ground from the ecm like  the digital dash
same goes for classic fast cars   ..hard wire it and get the map sensor off the tach/boost module
if you curently run the map sensor off the powerlogger analog block i would hard wire the map sensor to the tps 5v circuit ,

I know the feeling. I have a Razors kit sitting on my fireplace I need to install.   Can't decide between selling my SMC kit or putting it on my jetboat.
