General Buick Tech / Front end alignment help
« on: June 14 2022, 04:18:12 PM »
I did the b body brake upgrade last year and am having trouble getting anyone to do a front end alignment.  I've been to 3 different shops and all say their equipment won't work on my car.  The issue being the lowered stance and the wide rear tires.  Anybody else have this issue.  What's the work around.  Stance is not radical, just Eibach lowering springs and tires are Nitto 275 50 15 on 8 inch wide Weld Wheels.  I do have a set of skinnies I could throw on the front and move the 215s to the back if that will solve my dilemma.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Car Stereo and Electronics / Under Seat Subwoofer Install
« on: March 07 2022, 03:27:27 PM »
Looking for suggestions as to how to mount the subwoofer under the seat.  Don't really want to drill holes in the floor.  Hoping someone has a better way of doing this.  If it weren't for the carpet I would use Velcro.  Thinking of maybe some sort of bracket I could tie into the seat mounts.  Hoping for an easier solution.

General Buick Tech / E85 using a Kenne Bell boost a pump
« on: October 05 2021, 08:10:32 PM »

So I was considering going to E85 which will require me to upgrade my fuel pump.  The logical choice would be the DW300.  I don't like charish the thought of dropping the tank.  I do have a walbro 255l pump in it now.  Was thinking that maybe a better (easier) option might be a boost a pump.  Any thoughts or opinions on going this route.  I know I'll need injectors and a chip too.  Just trying to get out of dropping the tank if I don't have to.

General Buick Tech / Auto-loc auto window up and down
« on: October 06 2020, 02:18:12 PM »
Just wondering if anyone is using this module for one touch window auto up and down?  Was contemplating adding these to my GN and was looking for feedback.  Also wondered where you located the module and how you mounted it.  I like the window racer, but $150 seemed a little steep to make my windows go a little faster.  Any input is much appreciated.

General Buick Tech / Saving ecm memory
« on: September 22 2020, 04:23:13 PM »
Anybody have experience with using one of the plug in adapters that uses a 9v battery to keep the memory saved in the ecm.  Thought it might be handy to have one if they actually work.

General Buick Tech / Power Steering Pump Noise
« on: August 29 2020, 11:23:08 PM »
So power steering pump is making a lot of noise.  I did have the high pressure line off to replace the o-ring.  Is my pump shot or do I just need to bleed the system again?  Drove it about 10 miles and it's still making excessive noise.  The reason I replaced the o-ring was it was losing a little fluid and seemed to be letting in a little air when it sat for a week or two.  Pump was then making a little noise until I turned a few times then was ok. Any thoughts?

General Buick Tech / Upper Control Arm Removal
« on: March 28 2020, 12:14:11 PM »
So I'm in the process of doing the b body big brake and spindle upgrade and I'm pretty much ready to remove everything except the lower control arm.  Any suggestions as to the best approach to removing the upper cross shaft nuts.  I am planning to remove spindle and upper control arm together. I did remove the caliper and rotor to reduce the weight of the assembly.  Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

General Buick Tech / Trunk carpet kit
« on: February 03 2020, 02:29:59 PM »
Just received my trunk carpet kit.  Nice quality but zero instructions.  Contacted mfg and they sent me some pictures?  So i sort of get whats going on.  Some pieces need to be glued on.  Any suggests as what to use?  Think i've got a can of spray adhesive somewhere.  Any insights into this process?

General Buick Tech / Power Steering Acting Strange
« on: December 04 2019, 12:48:28 AM »
My power steering feels like it is not working when I first start up the car and start moving.  It feels like there is air in the system.  Goes away after a couple of turns of the steering wheel.  Any idea what's going on here. Why would the system be getting air in it.  I don't drive the car often as it almost winter here in Ohio, so its been sitting for longer periods of time.   But it's never done this before.

General Auto Tech / Supercharger on a SBC
« on: August 10 2017, 11:28:20 AM »
Looking at putting a Weiand supercharger on my other ride, a 67 Camaro with a 327. I did not build the motor as it was done before I bought the car several decades ago. Motor does not have a ton of miles on it and when I had the heads off last year the cylinder walls looked like it was just rebuilt.  It has TRW flat top piston and aluminum heads and from what I have been able to determine the CR is just over 9:1.  Any thoughts on running 5-6 psi on this motor.  This is mostly a toy that does not see a lot of use and no track time.  Just looking for a little more get up and go.  What's your thoughts on this?

General Buick Tech / OTC 4000E
« on: June 20 2017, 11:45:49 PM »
Found one locally on Craigslist for $75.  I already have a Scaaster II.  Would this be worth picking up? Not familiar with the capabilities of this unit so unsure if this would be of any further benefit.  I have had my GN for 20 years and have not needed it! Did I just answer my own question? LOL

« on: June 20 2017, 05:17:21 PM »
Wondering if you can get the hoses replaced on the existing hose assemblies? If so what type of hose do you nee to use as I know as place that can crimp them on for me. As always, any help or info much appreciated.

General Auto Tech / Throttle body efi intake
« on: January 08 2017, 09:04:43 AM »
Just installed a Fitch efi system on my 67 Camaro.  The current intake is a dual plane.  Would an open plenum style be a better choice?

Paint and Body / Bumper Fillers
« on: December 08 2016, 07:34:52 PM »
Looking for opinions on bumper fillers.  I dont want to spend $600 on a set but dont want a cheap set I end up spending a huge amount of time on to make them work either.  Any input would be much appreciated.

General Buick Tech / SMC alky tank
« on: June 08 2016, 04:01:29 PM »
I have an old SMC alky kit that the pump has died on.  I am going to go with an external pump but as I already have holes drilled for the previous tank I want to replace the old tank with a new one, without holes!  It is the round plastic tank that mounted to the fan shroud with pump inside.  Any idea as to where I might pick up a new one?  Looks like standard off the self item.
