Title: new puppy
Post by: nocooler on August 28 2023, 08:11:33 AM
The house was too quiet. We brought this little ball of fluff home from central Ohio this weekend.
His name is Tate and he is a 9-week-old Shetland Sheepdog.
He rode 6 hours home without any accidents or crying. He's slept through the night the last 2 nights he's been home.
So far one of the most chill puppies I've ever been around.
We did check out Summit Racing while we were in the area - I spent an hour in the clearance section digging through all the cool stuff.

That's a beautiful pup!  Chill for the moment LOL

Summit has a bunch of stuff!  that looks like a great day from my perspective.

His mom was sable and his dad was a blue Merle - it’ll be interesting to see his markings when he matures. He’s sable but has a couple bands that are Merle right now. His mom was 28lbs and his dad was smaller. He will be an average size sheltie.
Our hearts and full and we feel blessed to have this little guy in our life. I didn’t realize how much enjoyment I get seeing my boys with the pup. They are at the perfect ages to bond with the puppy.

He looks like he will have beautiful markings.  Seems to be starting off with a great temperament.

Beautiful dog. I just lost my GS a few months ago. Here is my last one I think. He is #10. Oh they all change so much as they grow. Best company to have. Always happy to see ya .

Sorry to hear that, Dan. A dog is the best company I have ever had.  I am rapidly nearing the same decision.

Hey Steve.. My last one took care of the wife for her last 2 years . Then he died the day after mothers day. No dog for 2 LONG months . It was awful. Quiet house an no dog in the car/truck. Now he is 15 weeks old. Goes everywhere with me. Damm dog is more popular than me !! Animals are great !

I am with you 100%.  Dogs are a lot smarter than 90% of the human population

Our last dog was a GSD. She was my Grandfather's dog for the first 10 years of her life. She came to live with us after my Grandfather passed. We were blessed with her presence for 5 more years. Such a wonderful dog! It was a struggle without her.

About 7 to 8 months later, I visited the local shelter & brought home an Aussie mix.

Absolutely the best!

My son has two GSD's.  I think both of them were rescues.  His first one was not.  I have never seen dogs that are so devoted to kids.

That Aussie mix might give you all a race when it comes to the brains department   She is a beautiful dog

As much work as a puppy is - it’s well worth it.

Puppys are a lot of work an spent time. What aggravates me is on the net people complaing the dog isn't manageable an they want to rehome the dog  :013: My monster is beside me. Just ate an now it's play time

Some people never had a dog and buy one like they are buying a new tv or something.  Have no clue about teaching the dog what is acceptable and what is not.  Then they bail out on the poor pup.  Same kind of people that make poor friends.

Congrats on the new addition! Dogs are growing on me... don't tell my wife or kids.

So far he's getting his routine down pretty well. His attention span isn't quite there yet for any real training. He's got going outside to do his business down pretty well, but he's still a pup and learning. I've been introducing toys to see what he likes and so far the frisbee is his favorite by far.
