Compressor making noise. I sprayed it with wd40 and that quieted it down. I haven't used the ac in at least twenty years. I'm sure it needs a compressor but that ain't in the budget this year. I've been googling and I'm not sure if I should try to replace the pulley bearing or just buy the A/c delete pulley setup and go with it until I can afford a new compressor. Wife went to eye doctor, needs kateract surgery to the tune of $3900. No ac for me for a while but I do need to drive the car.
Any thoughts? I think I can use the loan a tool thing at az. I have a 3 jaw puller just nee the clutch puller and clutch installer tools if the google results are what I'm going to do. Also does anyone have the bearing number I will need for a stock compressor pulley.
TIA

Is this similar to what I'm in for? I know this is the older compressor but maybe the clutch is similar.

Ask around locally if someone has one they pulled out to use for the interim?

I've got a spare compressor that came with my barn engine. It's yours if you would like it

Be a tuff guy like me...and roll down the windows. :)

That's how I roll.... except when the wife is in the car

I'd love to have it. Let me know how we could get it from there to here? Shipping to 76017

I've been doing that for twenty years. I just don't want the pulley bearing to seize up and ruin my day. Mine doesnt even have power windows to add to the low budget tough guy mantra.

I'm in Gatesville and can meet halfway if you like. That way I don't have to worry about boxing it up. How about Hillsboro? Pick a date preferably on a weekend

I'll have to see what I can work out for a meet up
I found two different remove/install tools on the Napa site. Anyone know which will work?

They look similar.

Rich, we're headed to cold season in PA. You can borrow my stuff for a couple of weeks if shipping is cheaper than buying. I think using Jason's compressor is a good idea too.

I certainly appreciate the offer but I don't mind buying tools. I just need to know which ones will work. I seeing that we have an r4 compressor, is this correct?
Summit has these and they are surely Chinese as the ones I could get at Napa.

Do these look like they will work?

Here is a cheap set on eBay that might do others than just my Buick.

I got my Snap-On set and compared to the E-bay set and if its legitimate, it has all you need. The two lower tools are what you need, and the center picture that looks like a washer should be a bearing for when pressing back on the compressor.
