Death Magnetic

I guess next month we'll see either the return or the final nail in the coffin. If any of you have XM you might have been listening to channel 51 (that they've totally taken over) and might have heard the new tracks. I can't formulate an opinion until I hear the studio version in it's entirety. There are some promising aspects.

"The Day That Never Comes":

"Cyanide":

...But the drums still sound like shit.

I've been hearing this one on the radio for the past week.
The intro kind of reminds me of "Close your eyes forever" by Ozzy and Lita Ford.

I'm waiting to hear more of it before I make a total judgement...

I bought this disc yesterday morning and have to say that's their best since...hell, a good 15 years ago. "Broken Beat & Scarred" is my fave.

Don't really care for the new stuff so far.   They lost me pretty much after Kill em All and Master of Puppets.  They need to let Kirk rock the fuck out!

A local DJ said that CD wasn't made for commercial radio and because
of it, the cd kicks ass. The songs on it are longer than many of their older ones.

The songs average 8 or 9 minutes long and Kirk DOES solo his ass off on this disc. Don't get me wrong, it's no "...And Justice..." but it's better than the stuff they's been doing for the last 15 years or so. The stuff that's on the radio definately is the worst stuff off of the album. "The Day That Never Comes" just plain blows.

VH1 had a pretty good special on them...and there was a song off the Black album where they pretty much so say, "we stole this riff, but turned it around and we'll never tell you who's it is".

Also, I found it surprising that while they had a feud going with Motley Crue they thought the Dr. Feelgood album's "sound" was so good that they changed their production to get the Black album the same feel.

When I was a teenager, I preferred Megadeth to Metallica...as I got older, I came to like them just as much as the other up to And Justice...
