Wider Bearings?

Remember way back when we discussed this?  So, what was the consensus?  Is it more advantageous to go with a little wider bearings to help distribute the load?

Think of the engine in my car as a test mule. I beat on it every weekend...with stock width bearings. I can contact Joe for brand and clearances.

they not only increase the load bearing capacity, but they help hold the rod more vertical.


Since drop in wider bearings exist I'll never build an engine without them.
'87 GN - 4.2L SFI Turbocharged innercooled V6 - Chrome valve covers - supra pump - 14" K&N - 52mm throttlebody - rocker shaft supports -  1/2 intake spacer - TB coolant bypass - 3" ATR exhaust tip - Alum intake pipe - NOS timing cover - chip - relocated charcoal canister - CR42's - stock

Thanks, Earl!  Do you have a make and part number for a wider bearing for a 4340 crank?

I get them for a 95 park ave.   IF your crank has a large radius, you might have to cone them for clearance.
