I’ve read that more times than I can count - most people didn’t believe him at the time.

They didn't believe him even after a bunch of guys watched the tear down. I used to have a write up he did. Used Vaseline on the wheel bearings. Oriented the plug electrodes, all the old racer tricks

Ken White run low 10s on a stock long block. Lots of bolt ons and tuning and a gnecu and a 275 to hook it up.

The format is good. But when you buy the part of the month it can get blurred.

No one does it alone.

Back when Tim was doing it, the parts of the month were pretty crude but your point is very well taken in the context of the past 20+ years.  As LC used to say, there are no magic parts, it's just a question on how fast you want to go and how much money you have to spend.

He used to also say, the faster you go, the faster you will be here for work.  Lotsa guys, today, believe you have to have all kinds of high technology and a personal tuner to go 12's.

Now that's a blast from the past.

Lots of boost, lots of fuel.

Guys used to preach "leaner is meaner".

Never worked for me.
