Title: Four concerts in five nights!
Post by: Racer X on August 01 2006, 03:16:29 PM
Well, went to see Velvet Revolver last Thursday. I was not expecting much, but they put on a great show. Scott Weiland is a better singer than I have heard on the radio. I am not big into STP, so I don't know all that much about him except what I heard on the radio.

Friday went to see Warrant and Skid Row. Warrant was okaaaaay, but Skid Row has two really good guitar players. Decent show.

Saturday was an off day.

Sunday was Social Distortion and they flat out boogied! Great rock n roll music and a good show. Mike Ness does a much better job of fronting the band than he did when I last saw them (20+ yrs?).

Monday (last night)...Santana. Unbelievable, but then it is Carlos fucking Santana, living legend. The etra treat was getting to see Dennis Chambers live. I have seen this Jazz drummer off and on through the years on TV and this guy might be the best there is. It sounds like he is playing with sledge hammers, he plays that "heavy". Great Show, Awesome show!

Damn, I thought Scott Weiland got booted...they must have brought him back again. I think hes a great singer. I believe if it wasnt for herion he wouldnt be who he is. I know his band members hate it though. Such apain to work with someone like that.

Social Distortion kicks ass!!!

Is Chuck Biscuits still in S.D.? It broke my heart when he left Danzig.....lis ten to 'She Rides' and you'll see what i mean.

Carlos Santana is an Albuquerque native/local and so he plays around here all the time. I have no excuse for never having seen him.

I saw Faith Hill and Tim McGraw last night. I have never heard any of their songs before so it was all new for me. I do have to say that the females that go to country concerts are... well..... AWESOME!

Faith Hill has a HUGE voice and quite a range. Tim McGraw was a bit too twangy for my likes. I was really impressed with Faith Hill's voice though.

Decent show... I give it three martinis out of five.

Went to *the* concert last night.  :D

The bill included Cheap Trick, Billy Idol, Journey, and Def Leppard.

Cheap Trick was .. well.. Cheap Trick. They sang all the songs we know, put on a pedestrian and predictable show. I give them (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif) (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif)

Billy Idol is still doing the same show he did 20 years ago. The stumbling drunk (acting) 'Bad Boy'. Steve Stevens is back with him and played great. The guy is a really good player and still in form. (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif) (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif)

Journey was next up. Neil Schon started the show off by playing the National Anthem. They played the best set of the night. Jeff Scott Soto's singing was up to the task. I was not missing Steve Perry. In fact JSS has a really good stage presence and knows how to work the crowd. I was impressed. Schon is still a GREAT guitar player that can absolutely shred (I know, I know it's Journey). They put on a great show. (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif) (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif) (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif)  (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif)

Def Leppard was the headliner. Joe Elliot looks old, tired, and awkward. His vocals were being drowned out by the band (on purpose maybe?) The guitar playing was good, but not the best of the night. Vivian Campbell and Phil Collin play well together, but it was just good. Sounds like a good time just the same. A while back, Def Leppard
was touring state fairs. I always though it'd be cool to see them in that sort of venue
without all the hoopla.

One thing I forgot to report...

The females were OUT and in full form for this show! Lots of lesbian dry humping going on and a lot of Ta-tas akimbo as well. So much so that I thought a Motley Crue concert broke out!

My next show is Tuesday to see the Leader of the Free World.

Ted Nugent at the House of Blues Anaheim. Yes, the very same HOB that Buckethead will be playing at in October.

Okay, a bit late, but here it is.  :supz:

I saw the leader of the Free World on Tuesday. Ted flat out still rocks! The guy has more energy than an five people. He was funny as hell too! If you get a chance GO SEE HIM! He is 58 and probably not a lot of shows left in him.

At one point, while singing a song called Kiss My Ass the stage hands pushed out a cardboard cut out of Osama Bun Laden to which Ted shoots with a bow and arrow! The he says "Get that piece of shit off MY stage!".

I give it (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif) (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif) (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif) (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif) (http://www.opentrackracing.com/forum/images/smilies/RACERXMARTINI.gif)
