Title: I need a damn firewall!

Windows firewall just took a shit on me, and I can't reset it. What do you guys recommend? Let's keep it quick cheap and simple please. I use XP Pro and SP2.

You can download zone alarm for free, but I don't know if its compatible with your setup.

To fix this problem, two dlls need to be re-registered:

First: Click Start -> Run, Then type

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\atl.dll
and hit OK

Second:
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\hnetcfg.dll
and Hit OK

This should allow for the viewing and configuration of the XP firewall settings.

**OR**

Follow the instructions here:

Last malware/spyware infection I had wiped out my windows firewall.

I used avast (free virus + protection) and it got everything right.

I swear by it, not at it.
