Anybody have experience with using one of the plug in adapters that uses a 9v battery to keep the memory saved in the ecm. Thought it might be handy to have one if they actually work.

Interesting, I never did measure the current draw on the orange wire. I would think a 9v is marginal since some guys have gone to a small race battery and find they lose their setting on start because of the dip.
A 9v is about 500mAh so if it drew 1mA ~ less than a month. Suspect it is higher draw than that.

They work to save ecm and radio clock settings for a car battery replacement. I'm not sure how log it will hold, maybe a hour or two.

I remember a few years back when those 9 volt battery gizmos were being sold. It does not take much to save the memory as I have had some pretty dead batteries with the ecm settings still there when the battery got charged up.

Thanks for the input. Was not looking to put one on for the winter or a long period of time. Mostly as a maintenance sort of situation when the battery is disconnected for a hour or two. Also tired of having to get owners manual for the radio so I can reprogram it everty time. Would also allow me to disconnect the battery if I wanted to while I leave it unattended (almost never!) as a sort of security measure and retain all the data.

They've been making radio clock savers forever. Odds are those are a lot cheaper than a 'tune saver'.
...and pretty much the same thing.
