so a couple wires contacted the downpipe. an melted 2 to be exact an of course blew a fuse...
fixed the wires tied em up so no more contact
replaced fuses,, cci an fp inj.
tried car an It. fired up BUT see light is on code 42 is showing...
wideband also appears dead ?
from what I read on the board there pointing at repalcing the ecm, which is fine but. id hate to wreck my only spare
so any advice where I should start?
thanks

Bypass line is open or grounded
EST line is open or grounded
Prom or Calpack not seated properly
Poor connections between ignition module or ECM
Poor routing of EST harness
Faulty or incorrect ignition module
Faulty ECM
I'd bet dollars to donuts you popped the ECM or ignition module...or both. Have spares to try? I'll assume you killed power to the ECM to reset to try and clear the code. You can clear codes on PL as well.

Hi Brad
Yes reset ecm
tried a different ecm still code42
dont have a spare type 2 ign only stock type guess ill give it a try?
-
Throw it on and see what happens.

Can you post a pic of the wires you fried? Steve's our wiring guru...and if the module doesn't cure it...then the pic will help to start tracing.
-
well tried 3 coil pack modules same thing code42
\tried changing the esc module no change
Appears i cant post a pic says error...idk

I think I would get the meter on those wires you fried and "repaired" and "hit" em with the ohm meter to make sure they do indeed have the ability to conduct current.
-
added a pic hope that helps. ..

Pretty much what Brad said. Good guide for troubleshootin g

Pic is working. Steve...any idea where those wires end up? Follow Steves 'tree'.
-
If those wires are damaged...then I'd repair them and heatshrink them. Maybe they aren't getting any voltage through?
-
Not sure what colors those are. Or if one of his wb? That link will show them if they are part of the 42
-
thanks guys ill have a look tomorrow if I get a chance..
the wires are grey. an the other is a pinkish with black stripe. hope that helps
oh this is the large wire system that goes towards the passenger fender
-
not sure on the grey wires. If they were grey with a red stripe, they would go to the crank and cam sensors as I see the diagram.
you might have to take your meter and check continuity from the splices to the module connector to see what pins they go to
