I was looking at my 4.1 and I see that the back cam bearing isn't grooved, still have to check the front one. My roller cam isn't grooved, so I believe my cam bearings need to be or at least the front one. Anyone know what bearings to use?

Fire up a Dremel and groove the front journal in the block. Then you can use plain ole 14 bolt bearings with a nongrooved roller cam.
-
That is only needed for the front one, right? The back doesn't need to be grooved?
-
Just the front. That's what feeds the DS lifter galley
-
Thanks, Earl! That is what I thought. If it didn't have the groove in the front would oil still get to the DS during idle and lessen on higher rpm? Or no oil at all?
-
none at all unless you have a grooved flat tappet cam journal.
Best thing to do is to groove it and be done. The end.
