Title: New boost controller
Post by: Steve Wood on May 25 2017, 06:39:06 PM
As I was installing the new alky kit on my son's T, I decided to ditch my old grainger style boost controller which was maxed out around 24 psi and install something that did not cause me to disconnect a hose to adjust it.

I settled on one from Grimm Speed that allegedly allows you to go up to 60 psi....   http://www.grimmspeed.com/manual-boost-controller/ (http://www.grimmspeed.com/manual-boost-controller/)

I ran low on alky before I made my final tweaks but it seems to work as advertised.

Check my speed shop tomorrow after work...see if he deals with the company. 1/4 pound per click...sounds accurate.

That would be handy on the TBSS... right now I using a tiny nitrous pill as a pressure bleed on the top of the wastegate.  Quick and easy means of going from 9 to 12 psi and destroying a transmission.

That is one sexy cool-guy part, Steve!

bought it on amazon.  It does seem to be moving up 4 psi per one full turn.  The clicks are easier to feel than hear..of course, I don't hear very well!  Takes some effort to turn, will not change position on you.

Steve years ago I used to have one similar that was dash mounted. It was basically just a Bleeder Valve & each turn allowed more air to escape so I'm wondering if this is the same kind of setup? It uses a "T" just like my old one did & it worked pretty decent. I just looked on Jack Cottons site & he sells almost the exact same unit I had, but says it's for External Gate?

This one has two ports and goes in the line like any other manual controller. It's a mix between a Grainger style and a regulator. Seems to have a wider range and more precise.

Good to know, I haven't had one for a few years but I like that setup so I'll keep this for future reference.
