Title: syrup
Post by: reality on February 05 2017, 12:14:12 PM
? of the day, Why can't you buy sugar free syrup in Canada only no sugar added but in USA you can get sugar free.
The only sugar free I've found in Canada is imported from USA.

Ihave ideas but no answers.

First, we aren't pussies;
Second, without sugar it isn't syrup - it is brown water;
Third, it would never sell because it is sacrilegious concept; and
Fourth, it is a form of currency and about the only commodity that doesn't depreciate.

I have to agree with Mike unless you have some medical issue but still love syrup

Syrup is sugar essentially... ......so sugarless maple syrup would be syrupless.

 I agree with y'all but for diabetics why the different standards,
And it is not maple syrup if it's not pure.

Being diabetic myself, I use this product when we have pancakes and the rest of the family uses "the real McCoy".
You can find this product readily available & on the shelf at most grocery stores here in Ontario. It's made by E.D.Smith & Sons Limited in Winona, Ontario.
I'm also finding that a lot of all day breakfast restaurants have this available for the asking as well.  Sunset Grill is one All Day Breakfast Restaurant that  we frequent that offers this .
It's quite tolerable with only 6 grams of sugar and is sweetened with Sucralose.

E D Smith is not too bad but is labelled NO SUGAR ADDED not sugar free

the  syrup in the US is labelled sugar free for the unsweetened stuff

What is the difference?  I assume it's some government wording but?????

Dunno, but I've been using it for a while now and is quite tolerable, the best tasting stuff that I've found so far.
No spikes in my blood sugar.

Here's another place that you might find helpful. They do mail order shipping too.

Love me some blackstrap but not good for me.

I had to go to see a dietitian today so I asked her the ? and the difference is in the US sugar free is a lie just means they don't add sugar to something that has natural sugar.
In CANADA they say no sugar added to something but doesn't mean no sugar. So diabetics in US be careful of labels that say sugar FREE cause they're not.
