Are the covers aluminum or some other fancy metal? I guess they need a mcgard bolt or something to keep the thing on there. Seems like a cat converter would bring more money. I guess it is harder to steel with the cutting compared to un screwing some bolts.
-
Its just stamped steel. Worth 50 cents or so at the scrap metal dealer.
-
I scrapped some metal a couple months ago and got $3 per HUNDRED pounds. Clean aluminum was 35 cents a pound.
...and I had to let them copy my license while i stood in front of a camera waiting on my check (not cash).
What an odd theft. Sounds almost like a huge unfunny prank.

I sold a bunch of brake rotors (150LBS) , An old Chevy Truck Driveshaft (5 lbs) and a brass heater where rockauto sent the wrong one and got $22
$10 was from the driveshaft and $10 was from the heater core.

If it is just stamped then id have to be thinking someone doesn't like that trucks owner.
