Luckily I'm off hitch this week of the event. Driving up to Noble on Friday morning. Event starts that evening and again on Saturday. Hope the weather holds. I'll throw up pics when I can. It will be a big test of unknowns for me. SD2, radial slicks, exhaust, 6262, and suspension setup. Tuning will be my biggest hurdle. I hope to get some test passes Friday evening and a few more in the qualifying on Saturday before the elimination rounds.
-
Looks like it is going to run well so you should have some fun!
-
You'll do fine. Just creep up on it. PM me if you need any pointers on tuning a VE table.
-
Good luck!!!!!
-
Have fun!
-
Have you had ot out on one of those back country roads for a blast or two?
-
Thanks fella's! Mike I will definately have my tablet set on speed dial for when the time arises. Rich, I posted a couple of logs on a thread titled "SD2 tuning."
I removed the RJC exhaust and installed the Pypes system. Steve, there are three versions of mufflers that you can order with that system. I chose the race pro muffler. Attaching a pic to show how restrictive it isn't.
Installed a 4" intake pipe and couplers that I got from Mark at TR custom parts. I am completely MAF-less.
Drained the tank and put back in 5 gallons of 93. Going to detail the car tomorrow morning and head to the scales.
-
Looking like a muffler should.
Underhood looking sharp.
Should make a good showing. Is Ken going?
-
No. Ken has some fiddle concert that he already committed to
-
Looks serious!
I remember the day I went MAF-less like it was yesterday...
-
Cleaned and tires swapped out. I'm really digging the race stars! Local scale was closed today so no weight
-
Damn, that is one sexy Bitch. :cool;
-
Looks pretty sexy like paint color a lot

Nice!!

Nice looking machine Jason, good luck on your runs.

Beast mode!
-
Go get em!

Having trouble with the TR6 again. Base tune at 20PSI was 115 thru the traps. Working with a fella named Jack Laswell. He's a really nice guy and helpful.
-
Hooking good?
60'?
Cars lookin sweeeet!
-
Jason. What height back tire do you run?
-
More problems. Cam sensor reluctor wheel snapped the tab off. Found another one and got it installed. Just FYI, no two cam sensor caps have the same timing set even if you just swap out the caps. So check the cam sensor phasing after changing caps.
One cool thing is that the Andrade racing team parked next to me.
-
Jason. What height back tire do you run?
Rich, I have 28x9 radial slicks on the rear.
-
The Andrade crew and my little old Buick in the background
-
That's pretty cool. He is the only one from that show is want to meet.
So the cam sensor was giving problems? Now the tr6 giving full spark?
I guess that Mr Laswell is a pretty sharp fella.

Made it back last night around 11 PM. Had a great time with the Dallas-Fort Worth guys.
William showed up on Friday night and ended up braking one of his u-joints. He had to work Saturday and couldn't come back.
Of course the ford guys won the event. We just don't have a lot of guys running in the 10's and that where they killed us. No worries, it was all in good fun.
I didn't think I would have as many gremlins as I did, but it is a buick. The TR6 reared its head with the cam sensor code but it turned out to be actual. The little tab on the cam sensor reluctor wheel had snapped off. One of the Botkol brothers had a spare cam sensor with him and we swapped out the wheel. Then the code came back and found the screw for the reluctor wheel had backed out. Got some lock tite and then that solved that. Then the phasing was out on the sensor. That's why I posted about the cam sensor caps not having the same setting even if just replacing the caps. From a setting at 25 degrees with one cap, to almost 33 degrees with another stock cap. Next thing was building boost at the line and not pushing through the lights. Then I noticed the alky wasn't spraying. It goes on and on. Also had one run with the tranny not wanting shift. Also had the SD2 dump the tune and then it had some crazy numbers in some of the cells. Always check your BLM grid before making a hit. Lots of work to do still
I am happy with the mph. TC was locking at 90 mph. 116.59 ain't too shabby at the traps. Car consistently picked up over 30 mph from the 1/8 thru the 1/4 mile traps and that's without any alky spraying.
Brad, so you can figure some slip percentages on the converter.
116.59 mph
28x9 MT radial slick
5095 rpm at the traps
3.42 gear
I kept the tune pretty rich at 10.5. At least I know the fuel system can handle it without alky
-
Glad u had fun!! Even with issues its still a blast. How can u tell when the convertor locks?
-
First question is about the short time and your low speed in the 1/8th.
Were you blowing the tires away thru the 1/8th or was it accelerating so slowly due to being way rich?
You can email Brad for a slip number...I calculate very badly in this case!
-
Is that the converter from Jake?

You can email Brad for a slip number...I calculate 20%
Kept pushing thru the brakes at the line. Saw a slight bit of KR at the shifts so I thru some more fuel at those points not realizing that the alky wasn't spraying. Unless I get a standard actuator for an s cover, I'm stuck at this level of boost. Actuator is as long as I can safely extend it and the controller is backed out completely. I have a standard actuator, just need to fab up a way to mount it to the s cover.
I ran the numbers on the Wallace calculator and it came up with 5.916%. Am I doing something wrong? Tire cir. is 87.8
Yes, pig rich. That time slip posted above is the fastest mph pass and it was the last pass of the event. I didn't go wot until the shift into 3rd and I reached over and hit the test button on the alky controller. Still a work in progress
-
Is that the converter from Jake?
Yep it's from Jake.
-
It looks pretty good when you use the right rpm!
-
Steve I ran the numbers on the Wallace calculator and came up with 5.916%. Am I doing something wrong? Tire circumference is 87.8
-
I got 6.5% on the TCI calculator
-
Wallace says 28" tire, 1.0 tranny gear, 3.42 rear gear is 146.14 mph at 6000 rpm. What percentage is that compared to 116.5 ?
I round off to 80%
LOL...OOPS! I need to clean my glasses!
your number is right...pretty good!
-
You may need a looser converter for best times as it must be starting out in third around 4300 rpm? With your cam and turbo, it will probably go faster if it drops to about 5200, I think
-
That 60' needs some work.
-
Here's a link to the video. Thanks to Steve Botkol for sharing it.

Found out why I wasn't spraying alky.... After changing the engine harness, I didn't completely seat the connector to the MAP sensor. It's spraying now.
Also, installed a standard waste gate actuator after locating it on the bracket and then welded it up. I didn't make any test hits. Too much stuff to do....
