I haven't seen this many turbo regals in one place in probably twenty years. Saw some old friends, met some new ones.

Nice! Always good to see 20+ local cars together.
Looking thru the old magazine pics brings back a few memories.

I love TR 'sleepers'. Dave...throw yourself in the fountain of youth...grab a used U haul car trailer off Kijiji...and get out and do some bracket racing with me at SMP next year. The public haven't got a fukn clue of what your TR or the other models of TR's are all about. I was hoping Justin would get the racing bug...as he was out with me last year...but got discouraged with his ET...and Phillip has fallen off the face of the planet. I'm getting too old to keep campaigning the car every weekend. It's all fine and dandy that the car gets a ton of attention...an d I get bombarded with questions. What worries me is the young guns haven't stepped up. They're the ones that will keep these cars alive with the public for the next 30 years.

First one on the right is Jason's Grey Ghost, next is Ken White's white 87. Both limiteds, Jason with chrome Ken with the WO2 black out. There was another blue limited WO2 at the other end of the row. Also several Grand Nationals, some regular T cars and an 86 WH1. Quite a representation of the cars.

That Justin kid had lots of magazine dreams, it is no surprise he got discouraged. These are definitely cool cars to own when they are running right. Hell, the kid I sold mine to texts/calls me with a tech question about every 30 days - I don't believe he has taken it to the track yet.

Brad one day, when I finally get the bazillion bullshit maintenance things that should have been done 10 years on my car I'll bring mine down. Why oh why didn't I spend more money on this stupid thing when I was paying 350 a month in rent and didn't own a bloody house.
Nice pics Rich!

Got kids yet, Steve? Drag Week was my first time out racing in 3.5 years. Daycare fees don't leave a lot of play money either.

Add a GTA sized mortgage and college fees and see whats left. 15 years worth of things that need replacement on the car and guys raggin' on ya for not being ready to go racin' every weekend. /endrant

I'm living vicariously thru you guys so please keep up the good fight (posts) :)

Natasha was teasing me when I got home from Drag Week that I sold my Buick to make some memories. She was right - mean, heartless and cold-blooded - but, right.
The fact is we are all very fortunate to have a toy (raced or not), some hard-working folks don't.

I'll tell ya like my dad told me, do everything you ever want to do before you get married.
That's why mine is a beater, two in college, on in Jr high, house note, pool that seems to require constant money, kinda like a Buick for the kids. Haha. I think actually owning a house saves me money over renting but who knows. Know the neighbors don't like us wrenching late.
It was a fun time. Lots of cars. There was a vid someone made that had the buicks un it about the 2 minutes mark but I cant fund it again. I'll keep looking .

No kids yet Mike, but the wife to be definitely wants some. I think if I was paying GTA prices for homes I'd be renting no way we could afford a place that wasn't in a rough area.
I was dumb as toast when I was 23 and bought the stupid thing. I've spent like $12,000 to make a $4500 dollar car into a $10,000 dollar car. Should just spent the 15 at the time and bought a done/nice one. I'd just like to have all the worn out shit replaced so I can drag race it and not be chasing a bunch of dumb worn out things that should have be replaced before it ever went near a track.

Plus as I get older my back hurts a little more so thoughts of wrenching over an engine stops with plugs, oil, a little cleaning up with maybe a car wash & that makes for a Good Day. I can't even imagine doing head gaskets with the motor still in the car anymore! :O

If you don't have kids yet, go ahead and get a second job now and start saving up. Also prepare for stuff like a $200 dress for prom, and iPhones , they all seem to need an iPhone. Buy it and it seems within a month or two the screen is shattered. So they need it fixed or a newer better iPhone. And don't get me started on shoes. Even boys require fancy Jordans and under armor, nothing under $100. It adds up fast and really cuts into the car fundage.

Something I learned when I was young. I built a 77 Nova from the ground up. I replaced all the body panels, built the engine...trans and diff. When I sold it off years later, I got about 10 cents on the dollar. When I bought my GN, I got smart. I found a turn key car...much cheaper and easier than starting out from scratch. The 2 Camaros I purchased were also turn key.

if I had a nickle for everytime I ignored an old guy in my youth only to learn the hardway they were right....
