Still got a couple of things to do but it got registered and driven this morning for the first time since the late '80's.
-
Looks really good!
Very urban setting - I only expect to see mesquite and goats in the background.
-
Cool. Next: nitrous and slicks!
-
Very nice Steve
-
Nice! I heard you were the original Rockford files? :) What power plant does that thing have under the hood?
-
Those are pecan trees, Dave. My brother planted those back in the '50's for the city of Eden.
396 engine/turbo 400 tranny
-
The whole thing looks pretty nice.
-
I bet it's a handful with a 396 and street tires
-
Not really. It's the 325 HP version and I took some compression out when I rebuilt it. 3.07 rear end. I built it to cruise.
-
Have to wait a few months or do it early for some topless motoring.
Looks good
-
It is 106 in my shop right now...topless motoring would have to be about 2 in the morning right now. I think November and April are the two best months for that like you said.
-
Awesome car. Great job getting it back on the road!
-
looks good - now get that dodge done!
-
it's next
-
Nice!
It reminds me of the Firebird 68-69? Orange & White convertible I had for about 3 months.
I was driving it to work & one day & a guy yells out at our job site "who's car is that & you want to sell it?"
He was the president of the Winnipeg Firebird club & I sold the next day for about $3300 in the early 80's.
I think it was an Automatic but I could be wrong? They look sorta similar & yours jogged my memory.
-

Zap and Rich Rezes are calling it a firebird on facebook lol
-
At a glance I might have thought it was the Firebird but the SS gives it away.
-
tail lights, also
-
Generally first Gen big block camaros have a black tail panel from the factory. It can be a bird if it wants. We know better.
-

For shame. :O
-
Tell Zap to get his sorry ass over here...and I wanna see some nitrous in the next pics. :)
-
I wanta see it driving away in one piece with a new owner! I blew the AC on the buick I drive last week on a day when it was pushing 40. Today, at the same spot in the road, I blew a leak in the truck radiator 40 miles from home on another pushing 40 day. I am hoping to sell this one before something blows on it...most likely would be the water pump or radiator. Everything else is new :D
-
Street legal. Now I just envision Steve with a mullet street racing.
-
Lol
-
Steve is it original paint? Got a ballpark $$ of what you want for it?
-
other than a change of color from blue to red, it is original other than things like the intake manifold and carburetor. I rebuilt it in the '80s and took some compression out of it, but the engine/tranny etc have '69 casting numbers. I have someone coming Friday to look at it. Price will be around 30K
-
Nice! Good luck with the sale
-
wow.. you have way more energy than I do !!! My 66 GT350 from 1974 sold a year ago. Don't miss it at all. Well I did have to find another car for my workbench
-
Dan, that's my problem. I ain't go the energy anymore. It's been around 106 in my shop this week and all I can do is stand in front of the fan. It was apart sitting in my shop for the past few years. Finally got serious on it and starting putting it back together. Best running thing I have right now LOL
-
<~~ #jealous
-
I can't take the heat at all. High 80's on up we head to the lake. Russ is busting my ****S to put a new converter back in the Mazda. Trans is bolted to the block.. Now I just need an hour of cool and and some ambition !!!! Good luck with your sale :atbeer:
-
Tell him, if he wants it in that bad, he needs to come on over and you will hand him tools while he is under there. Sure to get it done then.
-
Steve, that is just a teaser! Please post some more pics.
-
I will....got a potential buyer on the way right now
-
And it's gone. I will post some pics as soon as they upload
-
Nice that did not take long you are happy with the number you got?
-
Yep
-
Excellent glad it worked out, from what I could see and glean from your description sounds like you both did well.
-
it looks a bit orangy in these pics. It is a deeper red than it appears here. Supposed to be '85 vette red.
-
Oh shit, I thought that was a frickin firebird!
-
Figures, Tim
-
Figures, Tim
At least he didn't make some Starsky and Hutch reference
-
Rofl that would have too funny!
-
lol
-
If he starts referring to himself as Crockett or Tubs we'll know to get his meds adjusted...
-
Here it is in its temporary home before it heads to Tulsa
they put a set of new tires on it yesterday because the old ones took a set and were thumping.
They were out cruising last night late in and are in love with the car. Makes me happy to have the right guy get the car. It's been sitting acting as a shelf for way too many years.
-
Good deal, Steve. Big difference selling a Camaro versus a Buick, eh?
-
Yeah it's always nice to see them go to a good home.
-
I could have sold it easily over the years but I never had a good feeling about the person buying it. I admit, I was a bit shocked when I cleaned it up and saw how good it looked and and well it ran but it's for someone that really wants a camaro and will take it out every week end and have fun.
I believe cars are to drive and not just park and say see what I have. The guy that I know that lives in San Angelo and who owns the McLaren beside it plus a twin turbo porsche, had seen it again about three months ago. He could not believe it was the same car. A little TLC goes a long way
-
I wish I could have had the luxury of choosing my buyer, not that I had a bad feeling on the sale. I get the feeling of waste from lack of use - which helped drive my sale too. The good news is that the car's absence will lessen with time.
-
Yep...bittersw eet but was not really in my plans....my plans are more day to day these days. Sold my old jeep too. I need to find a good truck but what I want and what I need are in a battle at the moment lol
-
If I get a new truck it's going to be a GM that way I can have an LS to play with.
-
What kinda jeep?
-
In this part of the country, Fords are off the chart in price. I like the Rams because of the hemi and the outstanding ride comfort. Chevies are really good these days and they are priced better than the fords on the used market but they really are kinda blah to me...but that LS is a home run engine...so many things that can be done with them. I would love to have one to stuff into something else...like a Miata, for instance lol
-
What kinda jeep?
it was a '68 CJ5 with the old Buick 221 v6
That was one rough riding mother on a rocky road
-
Tell me about it, I have an 85, stock.
Most definatly not the smoothest ride but it's awesome!
-
Boosted LS 4.8 in a Vega that would be choice if I had more disposable income
-
I bought a '74 vega wagon years ago to build a street rod out of. It's sitting out in a friend's pasture rusting away. He is a really good car fabricator and we were going to do it together....he ain't very reliable when it comes to staying on track but he can damn sure build them when he is.
I always wanted a Vega panel wagon, but this one would have done nicely.
-
all my income is disposable...o r biodegradable. ..because it sure disappears.
-
Can't take it with ya'.
-
Lol biodegradable mines just degradable 😆
-

Preachin' to the converted, you are. ;)
-
That's a sweet looking camaro! Glad it went to a good home!
-
Yep, I think it will be loved.
-
Love the camero's, that color was a great choice. New owner is lucky
