Met up with some of the DFW guys last night at the motorplex in Ennis. Keep in mind this outing was strictly to scratch an itch I've had for some time. Hard ass street tires on the rear and the little 49 for boost. Surprisingly I managed to launch all 3 passes on 1 pound of boost and not spin but throttle management after the launch was lacking. The first two passes was a pedal festival. Thought I was a tap dancer with all the foot movement. The third pass was the last and best of the night. Managed to make it down the track without any spinning but didn't get full throttle until 38-40 mph. RPM drop at the shifts was a bit over 800.
Boost on the passes:
1 - 18ish
2 - 21ish
3 - 22ish
Had a tad bit of KR on the third pass as I had put the car in D instead of OD and the tranny wanted to shift at the big end. That's another learning point, shift points were at 5125. Going to have to lighten that governor. Need to read up on that before doing it.
Key things I was looking for on this outing was the mph difference at the 1/8th vs the 1/4. You can see those for yourself in the pic of the time slips. Also was looking at the WB vs the NB. Car was super rich as the chip was burnt for the airflow of a 6262 but I cannot understand why the log has a A/F of 7.50ish but the guage was displaying 10.0. I was pulling a tad amount of fuel from the chip but still pig rich. Logs to follow when I get to the laptop...

I wish I could have made it down. Sounds like a fun time.
How did the e85 car run?
Good mph on the third run. Looks like it would be deep in the twelves with a good 1.8 or so 60'. Only picked up 20 mph from eighth to quarter. On the first two it picked up more but started from a smaller number. Was there any head wind? Might be the richness.
Alky on any of the runs?
Looking forward to the logs.

That's why I always say...get some seat time. These little engines make a ton of torque...and getting them to 60 foot...can be like walking a tightrope.
-
My apologies for the long logs. Just go to the end and rewind a bit to see the actual run.
Rich, I was extremely impressed with the e85 car on speed density. Unopened 70K stock block with a newbie on the tuning side. 12.2 was his best of the night. It was hot and pressure altitude was almost standard at 29.93

Weird KR on the third run in high gear. 2.6 KR at 5200 and 02's at 788. It isn't sustained. Falls off each time. Shows a hint of KR in 2nd as well...but it goes away. Battery voltage is good...makes me think it's not real.

Looks like good mph. Definitely a low 12 in it with traction! What were you using for tires?

Tires are my street cruising BFG's. Hard as a rock and definately not for the strip

Not certain on that high gear KR but as I up shifted into OD it went away.

On the second run at about 43-45 sec mark, I guess this is the top of first gear? The rpm moves around a lot. Don't make too much fun of me I'm just learning this powerlogger thing. I'm guessing it shifted real hard and you got out of it to get the traction back?
No alky? just 20 psi of boost. This thing is gonna be a monster with some more air forced in.

Rich...put up the gauge panel...and watch the TPS. Push the right arrow key on your keyboard. You can watch him 'pedal' it in real time.

Shifting into OD isn't a good idea.

Here I am with a TA 49 with a Precision .83 exhaust housing...and wait for it...a NA convertor that stalled at 1700 RPM. Talk about a mismatch of convertor and turbo...think the best 60 I ever got was a 2.00. Engine is bone stock...with an old skool non progressive alky kit. The other gent in the Cutlass has an LC2 in it as well. It wouldn't spool till the end of the grandstand...b ut watch me walk around him every time. I had Eric lock the convertor via his chip. The car would consistenly turn 113 mph every run. I wish I still had that turbo with that exhaust housing on it.
Jason...turn the wick up to 26... throw some good tires on the car...and dial in the low gear fuel/timing. Squeeze that 49...and see what it can do.

Hey now, That is a nifty feature. That O2 v sure goes wild after the run when he let off.
I am definately saving up for one of these.

Agreed! I did that on my low milage car, it was a saggy shift and definitely robbed me of ET, only a 12.3 but I can say I crossed the traps at 4400rpm. :icon_lol:

I'm thinking of it loading the engine and knocking like a whore in OD. :)

You would with extra load but my runs showed 0 knock but that was with turbo link so there very well could have been some. But with the size of tires I found it was shifting very fast.
